GCY takes the lake by storm at Carolina Cup Open Water Champs!

Congrats to the 20+ GCY swimmers that participated in the 3rd Annual Carolina Cup Open Water Champs at Seven Lakes this past Saturday morning.  This event is a combination of BOTH South Carolina and North Carolina Swimming, and brings out the area's top distance swimmers because the state's Zone teams are chosen based on the results of the 3K event.

Quick SHOUT OUT to GCY's Anna Gagnon, on perseverance: This event was highlighted for GCY by Anna's individual win on the last race, the girls 10-12 2K Swim!  A win at this level of meet and with the competition in the field was significant, and Anna was pushed by a tough field that included her teammate Sarah Grubb, also in the lead pack of 7 swimmers that pulled away (Sarah finished 4th overall!).  Anna probably had one of the most difficult end of seasons this past long course year, literally getting a series of best times but missing multiple JO cuts by literally just 10th's of a second, she was not able to attend the JO meet because of this....instead of packing it in, or turning away, Anna has been one of our hardest workers at the start of this season.  It is great to see a swimmer overcome adversity the right way and get rewarded with a great performance - SHOUT OUT Anna Gagnon!
