GCY's Laurel Kiselis verbally commits to Cornell University!
BIG RED lands GCY's Laurel Kiselis!
Greensboro Community YMCA's Laurel Kiselis has become the first GCY high school senior to commit this season - she verbally committed to the Cornell University BIG RED!
Laurel will come in with a high school BEST TIME in the 100 Free that already place her as one of the top 10 all time on the Cornell history books, and a time that would score at the very competitive Ivy League Conference Championships from 2015. She's a sprint freestyler with strong potential in the distance events as well. At 6'1 and a ton of potential, Laurel was a target at many schools, including the Ohio State Buckeyes and South Carolina Gamecocks. Ultimately, Cornell's strong academics added with a great recruiting trip sold her on the program!
Laurel was also selected as a Scholastic All-American by USA Swimming, for performances in both the 50 and 100 free, plus a GREATER than 4.0 GPA - good job Laurel and good luck your senior year!
Laurel's best:
- 50 Free - 23.84 (27.37 LCM)
- 100 Free - 51.27 (59.74 LCM)
- 200 Free - 1:53.34 (2:10.87 LCM)
- 500 Free - 5:12.38
Laurel in BIG RED attire already!
