TYDE COMPETITIVE
Our competitive groups are divided into age groups, Juniors (12 year olds and younger) and Seniors (13 year olds and older). Our “12 and Under” competitive groups aim to introduce and enhance year-round swimming skills while our “13 & Older'' competitive groups' training programs are tailored to accommodate the physiological and psychological changes during puberty and growth spurts. Any swimmer interested in joining one of TYDE's Competitive groups must start with a TYDE Placement Evaluation. You can learn more about our upcoming placements HERE.
TYDE Competitive groups breakdown:
12 & Under Competitive Groups
This group training program aims to introduce and enhance year-round swimming skills. Emphasis is always given to correct stroke mechanics and as swimmers' stroke abilities progress, they are presented with more challenging training sets. Swimmers are motivated to take pleasure in their swimming and to gradually shift their focus towards the competitive aspect of the sport.
Note: Please be aware that at this stage skill development during practice sessions is prioritized over competitive performance. Practice is the foundation where we develop skills and shape the athlete’s formation. Consequently, even if swimmers fulfill all the requirements for competition but fail to meet the practice requirements, they will not be advanced to the next level.
13 & Older Competitive Groups
For competitive swimmers aged 13 and over, our training programs are tailored to accommodate the physiological and psychological changes during puberty and growth spurts. During this critical phase, swimmers undergo significant physical changes that can impact performance. Coaches, when needed, will modify training loads to prevent injury and ensure proper technique development.
At this stage swimmers will be introduced to a Strength and Conditioning Program to support the increased demands on performance. The competition will serve as training motivation and provide goals and benchmarks for swimmers to strive for and measure their progress. Swimmers participating in our Senior-level groups are guided to cultivate a set of advanced characteristics that extend beyond competitive success. Our program emphasizes the importance of continuous personal development, instilling a dedication to excellence that our swimmers carry with them both in and out of the pool.
