Age Range:

Kindergarten & 1st Grade

Entrance Criteria:

Must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle with side breathing as well as 25 yards of backstroke

Practices:

3x per week

Practice 

Expectations:

Focus must remain on the coach

Streamline off every wall

Introduce circle swimming

Introduce how to use a pace clock

Use proper flipturns and open turns

Competition:

Intrasquad meets, USA Swimming competitions

Competition Expectations:

Year 1: complete legal 25 FR and 25 BK

Year 2: complete legal 25 FR / 50 FR, 25 BK / 50 BK, try 25 BR

Exit Criteria:

Complete all competition expectations

Can legally complete a 25 dolphin kick

Understands breaststroke fundamentals

Is able to dive in a streamline position either off the side or the blocks

Can complete a freestyle flip turn and an open turn

Knows IM order and understands legal IM transitions

Legal finishes in all four strokes

Understands circle swimming and lane etiquette

Knows how to read a pace clock and leave five seconds apart

Swimmers will either move on to Explorers or earn a spot on the CRA rec team.
