2023-2024 Winter Swim Season 
2023-2024 Central Vermont Swim Club Group Information  *Information last updated 09/6/2023

The Central Vermont Swim Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Central Vermont Swim Club to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Required Gear for all swimmers:  water bottle, goggles, swim cap and athletic swimsuit of choice. New swimmers will receive a navy IceBreakers swim cap.

New this season
- CVSC pricing includes the *USA Swimming registration fee*, last year families paid this separately. This year the team will register swimmers.
- Norwich groups will be divided into Bronze, Silver and Gold, see descriptions below.
- NVU-Johnson will offer options for a full competitive season as well as 2 sessions.
- Norwich Gold team will practice on Fridays at GMCF, see the   practice calendar  for specific dates and location details. 
 

Swim Group Selection - Coaches have discretion to change group levels as they deem appropriate for individual athletes during the season. If an athlete is best suited for another group, coaches will speak with both the athlete and the parents. 

 

NORWICH UNIVERSITY PRACTICE GROUPS

BRONZE Team

To enter this squad, swimmers must be 8 years old and able to kick 50 yards of each stroke and swim a 100 IM with minimal corrections. They will work on further developing proper technique in all four strokes. The swimmers will swim longer yards and multiple sets. This allows them to feel and change any part of the stroke and turns that may need improvement. Coaches may work in and out of the water. Videos or other training materials may be used.

Practice Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Norwich University

Payment Options:

  • Monthly payment plan:  $154 at time of registration and $154 auto-charged on November 1, December 1, January 1 and February 1
  • Two-payment plan:  $385 at time of registration and $385 auto-charged on January 1
  • Single-payment plan:  $770 at the time of registration
     

SILVER Team

To enter this squad, swimmers must be 10 years old and able to kick 100 yards of each stroke, swim a 100IM with minimal corrections, know all the correct turns and starts, and know how to use the pace clock. Coaches will focus on technique and training to develop strokes and speed. Athletes will swim a variety of sets from 25 yards to 1 mile. Swimmers will be well educated and set goal times in each stroke, working towards achieving time standards. Videos or other training materials may be used.

Practice Times:  Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM at Norwich University

Payment Options:

  • Monthly payment plan:  $178 at time of registration and $178 auto-charged on November 1, December 1, January 1 and February 1
  • Two-payment plan:  $445 at time of registration and $445 auto-charged on January 1
  • Single-payment plan:  $890 at the time of registration
     

GOLD Team

Each swimmer must be 13 years old and/or have the coach’s approval. Swimmer must have legal competitive strokes, can swim a consecutive 200 of Free, Back, Breast & IM, and know all of the correct turns and starts.  These swimmers will be competitive, want to improve and be challenged. Swimmers will work on building endurance, techniques, race specific training, turns, starts and building efficiency in strokes as well as perseverance, team building and goal setting. They will swim a variety of sets from 25 yards to 1 mile. Videos or other training materials may be used.

Practice Times:  Monday - Thursday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Norwich University and 14 Fridays from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Green Mountain Community Fitness in Berlin

  • Monthly payment plan:  $222.80 at time of registration and $222.80 auto-charged on November 1, December 1, January 1 and February 1
  • Two-payment plan:  $557 at time of registration and $557 auto-charged on January 1
  • Single-payment plan:  $1114 at the time of registration
