Full Time Coaching Staff
Coach David has been on the BWTD staff since 2017, and has been the head coach since 2019. He is the primary coach for National, Senior, and Gold groups, but you can sometimes find him working with all levels, including pre-competitive.
David grew up in Flemington, NJ, where he swam for the Hunterdon County YMCA from ages 8 to 18. At one point he held over 20 team records, and was a multiple individual state-champion and YMCA National Top 16 swimmer. He also swam competitively for three years at Stony Brook University, where he earned a degree in Music focusing on vocal performance.
Coach David’s coaching career began at the age of 15 when he began to coach with the Flemington-Raritan Community Pool. After college, he coached part-time for two years with the Hunterdon County YMCA where he worked with all ages, but mainly with the senior group. David helped coach many YMCA Nationals qualifiers, and as interim head coach in the summer of 2014, he almost doubled the YMCA Nationals roster from 6 to 11 swimmers.
Beginning in the spring of 2015, Coach David began working as a full-time assistant coach for The FISH, a USA swim team in McLean, VA. While David was working with The FISH, the team earned USA Silver Medal Club awards for two straight years, an award reserved only for the best 100 teams in the country. David got to coach Olympic Trial qualifiers, as well as many Eastern Zone All-Stars and National Top 10 swimmers. David’s primary group was the beginner Age Group swimmers, and his group increased significantly over the two years he worked with them – he increased the amount of BB time standard swims from 9 to 131 in that time span, and the amount of A time standards from 5 to 19.
David is proud to be the Head Coach for the JCC Bridgewater Tide, and to be able to pass all of his knowledge along to the swimmers, coaches, and parents he works with. When he came on the staff in 2017 the team was down to 85 swimmers. Since then, he has helped grow the program to over 160 swimmers during the 2024-2025 season. Under his leadership, retention is higher than it has been since 2013, and he is looking forward to continue to grow the team to its full potential.
Coach David's other passion is music. He is a lifelong musician and writes and records his own music at home, and has three albums released on Spotify. He is an avid lover of food and enjoys cooking, especially with his wife, Colleen. Coach David also loves to go swimming with is son, Casper.
