Adult Lessons

Texas Ford Aquatics offers adult swim lessons!  Swimming is a life-saving skill and low-impact activity that allows people to stay active and healthy regardless of age or physical limitations!  According to the CDC, 37% of American adults can’t swim the length of a pool, which puts them at risk of being one of the 10 people who drown every day in the United States.

Adult lessons are for all levels of ability (+18). Ability levels may include but are not limited to:

  • Those fearful of the water wanting to learn basic survival skills in order to enjoy and feel safe in the water.
  • The non-swimmer wanting to learn to swim for exercise and/or enjoyment.
  • The beginner swimmer wanting to improve technique and/or build endurance.

Adults can sign up for private lessons or join as a group!

We offer different price levels depending on how many people are in your class and how many times a week you plan to participate.  All classes have a one-time $50 registration fee that includes a swim cap and goggles.

  • Discounts available for adults with swimmers in either SwimAmerica or the USA Swimming Team.
  • Please contact [email protected] for availability.

Modest swimsuits only.  For the torso, swim shirts are permitted.  For the head, a swim cap is included with your registration fee.  Individuals with long hair are asked to wear their cap during lessons.

If any other attire is needed for modesty, consult with your instructor for practicality, we will do our best to meet your needs while still teaching you to swim.

Students acknowledge that results will vary.  Everyone has their own learning curve, their own starting point, and their own goals.

Students are expected to have fun!!!!

Instructors

Instructors will be on time, respectful, and polite.

They will do their best to teach you how to swim and fall in love with the water.

They are going to push you outside of your comfort zone in healthy and manageable ways.

They are going to be creative, what works for you may not work for someone else.

They will provide constructive criticism to help you reach your goals.

Lessons

Private Lessons consist of one instructor and one student.

Semi-Private Lessons consist of one instructor and two students.  Students in semi-private lessons must be cohabiting.

Signing In

A sign-in sheet will be available by the pool.  Students must sign-in prior to the start of their lesson.

Schedule

Lessons are 30 minutes long from a set and agreed upon beginning and end time.  If a student arrives late, they may begin, but the lesson will still end at the agreed time.

For example, if a lesson is scheduled from 8:00 to 8:30, and the student jumps in at 8:10, the lesson will still end at 8:30, not 8:40.

Monthly students reserve a specific day(s) and time(s) each week for the entire month.

Requests to change a schedule are subject to pool and instructor availability.  For example: adding or deleting a lesson to your regular schedule; transferring to a different day and/or time, etc.

Communication

All communication will be through [email protected].

All desired changes to your billing or schedule must be emailed to [email protected] by the 20th of the current month to go into effect by the 1st of the following month.  Notice received after the 20th will be applied to the second calendar month.

For example, if you are taking lessons in January, and email us on January 20th to cancel your lessons, you will not be billed on February 1st.  If you send us notice on January 21st, you will be billed on February 1st, but not billed on March 1st.

If you are sick, your account may be credited for the days missed.  A doctor's note that specifically outlines the exact days you will be out and provided to us within 2 weeks of the absence is required for all medical credits to be considered.   There is a 4 class credit limit for two times/week enrollment and a 2 class credit limit for one time/week enrollment during a 12 month calendar year (August - July).

All credits will expire 6 months after being placed on the account.  This policy only applies to the enrolled swimmer and does not include absences due to other family member illnesses.
