Swimmers of the Month
This month we would like to highlight two of our Metro swimmers Gabe Rogers and Garrison Mosely who qualified for the American Long Course Championships held at the end of July in Dallas. For those that don’t know, ALC is an open age level meet which has some difficult qualification times to enter. Qualifying for this meet is already an achievement. ALC is a 4-day meet where swimmers compete in preliminaries in the mornings, and finals in the evenings. It’s a lot of racing!!!
Both swimmers turned in some stellar performances, dropped time, made finals, and got some awesome time cuts. Congratulations to both Gabe and Garrison!
Below is some more about these boys’ swimming achievements
Gabe Rogers is a Whitehouse High School All-State swimmer in UIL, for 3 Consecutive Years! First Team All-State in 2024.
His Freshman through Junior year at WHS.
Gabe has competed in high school at the state level in multiple events including -500 free, 100 free, 200 IM, 100 Back, 100 Breast. In Gabe’s Jr. year -he anchored the Whitehouse HS 400 free relay team hitting the wall in 2nd place at Regionals and securing their spot at State. The first time in the history of Whitehouse HS that a boy’s relay of any kind qualified for state! He has broken school records multiple times (in individual events, and as part of relays) and his own records multiple times.
He qualified for USA Sectionals at age 15 and in July of this year qualified for USA Futures Nationals with his 200 Breast performance in the finals at The American Long Course Championship meet. Gabe finished the ALC meet with a 7th place in the 50M Breast, 4th in the 800 Free Relay, 9th in the 200 Breast, 7th in the 400 Free Relay and several other top finishes.
He has his sights set on USA Junior Nationals in ‘25 after state UIL is wrapped up in Feb.
Gabe’s goal this year is to win State in one if not both his individual qualifying events and to help get the WHS 400 free relay and 200 Medley Relay to state!
This is going to be a great Senior Year of swimming for Gabe at Whitehouse High School.
Garrison Mosley
Garrison has shown improvement in leaps and bounds this past year.
He was the lead off swimmer of the Whitehouse HS 400 free relay that went to state last February. He is also the Junior Captain this year for the WHS Swim Team. At the 2024 districts he helped secure 1st place in 400 free relay, took 2nd place individually in the 100 back, 2nd place individually in the 200 IM, and 2nd in 200-yard medley relay.
At Regionals as part of the Whitehouse HS 400 free relay they placed 2nd securing a relay spot at State. The first time in the history of Whitehouse HS that a boy’s relay of any kind qualified for state! Garrison helped WHS break a record as part of the 400 free relay and 200 medley relay teams.
Recently, Garrison attended the American Long Course Championship meet for the first time and turned in some awesome performances. He dropped time in many of his events earning several “A Time Cuts” and being incredibly close to “AA Time Cuts”. In his first ALC meet he was a finalist in the 50M Back finishing in 17th place overall and gaining valuable experience in many other events.
Garrison’s Junior Year of swimming with Whitehouse will be another one to keep an eye on.
Congratulations to Gabe and Garrison!
