Far Westerns Update
Far Westerns Final Day - the sun was back out and the OA group was on fire again. New LTB's by Gillian Flath 31.78 and Max (NO) Cruz 32.70 in the 50 Fly. 3 big drops in the 11-12 100 Breast by Amy Larsen 1:12.81, Kathy Larsen 1:14.10 & Cole Lauritzen 1:13.07. Amy came right back to drop close to 3 seconds in the 200 Fly 2:29.09.
Other good swim just a blink off their LTB's from JO's in the 50 Free: Kat Cane - 26.51, Jolen Griffin 24.44, Nat Morlock 26.12 and Max Cruz 30.39.
The day was highlighted by 11-12 50 Free finalist Emma Cottrill. Swimming in lane 10 of the finals, Emma blasts a lifetime best time of 25.26 moving up to 6th place.
A special thanks to all the parents for supporting their swimmers this long weekend to participate in the meet and doing your part to fulfill our work obligations. The swimmers and their swims made it worth it!
Day 3 - one more day left at FW. Another good day of swimming. Megan Colpo goes ltb in 100 IM 1:07.44 & 50 breast 34.89. Emma Cottrill swim ltb in 100 back 1:04.63. Amy Larsen improves to 33.91 in 50 breast. Max Cruz drops 2 secs in 100 back (1:15.67). Matt Lennon swims best 100 back in 58.07 Other solid swims by Jordan Owyoung in 100 back 1:02.47, Kathy Larsen 50 breast 35.25, Cole Lauritzen 50 breast 34.96 & Abby Dulski 50 breast 40.28.
The evening was highlighted by an 9th place finish in the 200 Medley Relay in the 11-12 girls 200 Medley Relay in a time 1:58.21. Splits: Megan Colpo 31.33, Amy Larsen 33.10, Emma Cottrill 27.87 & a 25.91 anchor leg by Kat Cane...way to girls.
Day 2 - OA swimmers continue to drop on Day 2 of Far Westerns. 7 out 8 best times (1 swim .2 off JO time). Tone setter Amy Larsen started the meet with a ltb of 2:25.47 in the 200 IM. Ryan Shaw swim 2 PB's - 50.62 in 100 free & 2:09 in 200 back. Ashleen O'Brien breaks 30 in 50 fly for first time swimming a 29.87. Kat Cane drops to 29.27. Emma Cottrill continues to shine with 2 finals today: 100 free 55.84 and 50 fly 27.62. Kat Cane leads off 400 free relay with a new JO cut of 1:00.69, Emma Cottril splits 55:79, Megan Colpo splits 59.09 and Ashleen anchors with a 1:01.41.
Day 1 in the books....outstanding swimming, big meet, fast meet...we held our own. 9 out of 12 lifetime best...the other 3 just .7 off. Emma Cottrill paces OA with a 5th place in the 50 back 29.16. PB's - Cottrill 200 free 2:07.18 & 100 fly 1:04.98, Alec Baker 100 fly 1:07.17, Max Cruz 100 fly drops 3 sec in 100 fly. The 200 breast saw huge drops - Amy Larsen 2:37.34, Kathy Larsen 2:36.73, Cole Lauritzen 2:37.17 & Liv Baker 2:33.30. Right on their JO times: Jolen Griffin 100 fly 58.60, Abby Dulski 100 breast 1:25.64 & Megan Colpo 50 back 31.07.
