The IMX challenge is a USA swimming sponsored motivational program which encourages athletes to participate in multiple distances of all strokes including the Individual Medley. Swimmers earn points by completing a combination of five to six different events dependent on the swimmer's age. Points are scored by performance and ranking in each event by USA swimming which will culminate into a total IMX score after each competition. The purpose of the program is to promote versatility in Age Group swimmers and to encourage athletes to train and develop in different strokes with the aim of becoming a competitive well rounded swimmer. To achieve an IMX score, swimmers must compete in all listed events at least once within a calendar season (SCY and LCM) in sanctioned USA swim meets. Once a swimmer has an IMX score, they can see where they rank within their club, LSC and nationally.
