 Dr. Genadijus Sokolovas Returned to Orinda Aquatics

Dr. G returned to Orinda Aquatics to test/film sixty swimmers during the weekend of February 1-2.  Please see his bio and links below.   Each swimmer tested two strokes - u nderwater, pulling, and swimming and received a DVD and a written review.

• Brief Bio                             

  Recognized today as one of the most knowledgeable swim­ming researchers in the world, Sokolovas recently resigned from his job at USA Swim­ming, where he had been sports science director since 2000, to create a new compa­ny, Global Sport Technology Inc., which offers technologies and services similar to those that the respected physiologist de­veloped at the Olympic facility in Colorado Springs.  In his role at USA Swimming, Sokolovas was an integral part of the training staff for Athens and Beijing. He has worked with swim­ming’s elite, in­cluding Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin and veteran Olympi­an Dara Torres, as well as Kim Vandenberg. During his eight years with the Colorado-based organization, Sokolovas devel­oped nearly a dozen unique methods for testing athletes and helping them maximize their performance.
