Coaching Staff
Matt brings twenty years of coaching experience to AMFY, where he is in his ninth year. During his ten-year AMFY tenure he has coached a YMCA National Champion, six YMCA All-Americans, multiple Zone and league champions along with many team accomplishments. He also serves on the Executive Committee for the Southwest Ohio YMCA Swim League.
Prior to AMFY previously coached at the Gahanna YMCA in Columbus, Ohio, where he coached multiple YMCA National qualifiers and helped grow the team's size and performance. He currently resides in Greenville where he manages Flat Ridge Training Center, a horse boarding and training business. He lives with his wife, Alisha, who is a general surgeon at Wayne hospital, and their two small childern. Matt swam for Wittenberg University in college, and the Beavercreek YMCA throughout his age-group career.
Matt works mainly with the Gold group swimmers, but will assist with Silver as well.
Carrie is excited to start her tenth year with the AMFY Waves. In 2015, she assisted with the White Group and transitioned to coach in 2017. She is a graduate of Ohio Northern University with a degree in elementary education. Her passion is teaching children in the classroom and in the pool. She enjoys teaching young swimmers the fundamental techniques for each stroke. Carrie works primarily with Red and Silver groups, but assists with White and Blue at times.
Jose is entering his fourth season with AMFY as the lead 13 and over coach. He bring with him eight years of coaching experience, including five years as the head coach at Darke County Y. He also has many years of swimming experience at multiple levels including a time a Ball State University.
He is an estimator with GMT Roofing in Greenville where he also resides with his fiance, new daughter and two dogs.
Scott is entering his eleventh year coaching for the AMFY Waves. He enjoys coaching the White group twice a week and watching the swimmers improve their technique throughout the season. Scott has taught fourth grade for twenty years at St. Marys Intermediate School. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Wright State University and Communicate Institute.
Growing up, Angie swam for the Coldwater Cudas and AMFY. She then went on to coach the Wapakoneta high school varsity swim team, Coldwater Cudas, and St. Henry Stingrays. Angie is in her eighth year coaching for AMFY. She resides in St. Henry where she teaches 5th grade at St. Henry Middle School and lives with her husband, Jim and their five kids: Alaina, Alexis, Easton, Livvy, and Evan.
Angie will be working with the Red, White and Blue groups.
Craig is in his sixth year on the AMFY coaching staff. He previously worked with 11-12 and 13-14 age groups at the Beavercreek YMCA after graduating for Wright State University, where he also swam for the Raiders. Craig lives in Celina with his wife and three kids.
Craig will be working with the Gold group on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.
Noah is entering his sixth season coaching for the AMFY Waves. Prior to coaching, he swam for the New Bremen Barracudas Summer Swim & Dive Team for 11 years and was also an assistant coach for 3 years. Noah currently works at Crown Equipment Corporation in Automation & Controls. While working full time, Noah is also a volunteer firefighter for the New Bremen German-Township Fire Department and currently a driver for the New Bremen EMS with plans to get his EMT Basic. He is a sports fanatic - cheering, watching, and attending games for the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Jeanette is in her sixth season as an AMFY coach, and she is no stranger to AMFY as she swam for AMFY in the past. By day she is a dental assistant, and at night she bakes cakes for her own cake business that she started in 2016. She also is an avid Marathon runner.
Jeanette works primarily with the Red and Blue groups.
Amy is in her third season as an AMFY coach. She swam for AMFY for many years, and following her high school career with St. Marys she swam for the Wright State Raiders in college. After college she coached for the Dayton Raiders and when she moved back to the area she was the St. Marys high school coach for 4 years. Amy is currently a 4th grade math teacher at St. Marys. Amy lives in Celina with her husband Derek and two daughters, Charley and Evie.
Katie is starting her first year coaching AMFY this winter. She comes with more than 20 years of coaching experience and swam for AMFY for 13 years when she was younger. She has officiated swim and coached Special Olympics. She and her husband, Craig, graduated from The Ohio state University and are both PE teachers and coaches. They have two kids, Scott and Leigha. In her free time she loves reading, relaxing, and spending time with family.
Kristy is in her first year with AMFY. She grew up swimming from the age of 6 all the way through college. She swam and played volleyball for Fairmont State University in West Virginia. She was an assistant coach a few summers home from college and taught swim lessons while in college. She lives in St Marys with her husband, John and two daughters, Rosemary and Amelia. Outside of AMFY she is a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at Holy Rosary school, where our daughters also attend.
