Meet Fees
To Calculate Meet Fees for your Swimmer, first locate the meet PDF. Navigate to the EVENTS HOME page. Click the NAME of the event. On mobile you can click either the NAME or the DATE (DO NOT Click Declare/Commitment/Run etc. for this purpose, that is used for registration). Scroll down to the bottom and click the document link. This is typically a PDF, sometimes a word doc. It will list all vital info for the event, including entry fees and entry limits (how many events a swimmer can do each day).
Flat fees are listed for attending the Swim Meet. Fees are also listed for each individual event & relay.
Add the RACE Surcharge; all flat fees (facility/OSI etc); event or "splash fees" multiplied by # of INDIVIDUAL events your swimmer is registered for; 1/4 of the cost of the # of RELAY events your swimmer may participate in.
FAQS:
RACE charges a $10 surcharge for every swimmer @ every local meet and a $20 surcharge for every swimmer for meets that require travel outside of Central Oregon. This is quite lower than the standard for competative teams. It is used to slightly offset the cost of travel/hotel fees for our coaches to attend meets.
If you register for a meet but cannot attend, you still pay the full fees.
If relays are cancelled for time constraints or changed, we still typically pay for them so you can expect a billing variance of usually $4-$8.
A really loose ballpark for meet fees is around +/- $90 per swimmer for 7 events & 2 relays; a full weekend of swimming. Some meets are a fair bit less, others a fair bit more.
Squads
Copper - Copper is dedicated to learning all four competitive strokes along with proper diving and turns. Practice is available 5 days a week for 60 minutes. Swimmers must be able to swim one length of freestyle and one length of backstroke unassisted.
Bronze - Bronze is aimed at teaching a wide array of levels, with a racing and stamina focus. Practice is available 5 days a week for 60 minutes. Occasional Saturdays by invitation only. Requirements are posted at the pool and test sets are run regularly for tracking improvements.
Silver- Silver is focused on Middle School swimming as a young athlete's main sport. The program looks at goal setting and individualized improvement. Practice is available 6 days a week; 1.5 hours per weekday, with additional pool time on Saturdays. Requirements are varied, and utilize knowledge of stroke with perfection of skill.
Gold- Gold is open to swimmers that have dedicated to swimming as their main sport. Individualized goals and skills are encouraged. Dedication to the squad and fellow athletes is highly encouraged. Practices run 6 days a week, 2 hrs per day.
All squads require tryout & Coach approval for advancement.
Attendance
RACE does not have set attendance requirements at this time. The general philosophy is that you get out what you put in. Practice is available 5-6 days a week, depending on squad. This schedule allows for flexibility around life-events and other sports/activities. Regular attendance is highly encouraged, and necessary to improve. The swimmers that quit are typically the ones that have poor attendance; therefore failing to see improvement and fall behind their peers.
If a swimmer is seeking to improve, the general minimum recommendation among coaches is:
10 & Under: 3 Days a week (pick any days)
11-12: 4 Days a week
13+: 5-6 Days a week
