Well, as sad as I am to say it, summer is almost over. Long course season drew to an official close with the end of the Western Zones Age Group Championship last week in Grand Junction, Colorado, where Stephanie Doi and Thomas Gjerde represented Tri Valley Aquatics and Pacific Swimming in an all-out battle against Team Colorado (and others, but the meet was really a duel between those two forces). In the end, Colorado came out on top by a mere 6.5 points, but that’s not to say Stephanie and...
Hey, TVA Families! The summer long course season is just about over, and with that said, Tri Valley Aquatics had a great weekend this last week. The weekend started off early on Wednesday in San Jose at the Far Westerns Championships, which included Stephanie Doi, Thomas Gjerde, Jordan Reznick, and Nicole Doi. At the five-day meet (yes, FIVE days!), Stephanie and Thomas lead the team in best times, with three each. Stephanie swam personal bests in the 100 and 200 free, and the 100 fly. Thomas took down his own...
Tri Valley Aquatics had an outstanding meet at the Junior Olympics Championship this past weekend in Concord – with just nine swimmers, the team scored enough points to rank them twelfth among many larger teams. Out of 64 individual races, there were 31 personal best times and 18 top-eight finishes. On the girls side, Stephanie Doi took home the most points with a second-place finish in the 400 IM, third in both the butterfly races, fifth in the 200 IM, and seventh in the 100 freestyle. In addition to placing...
In the first day of USMS Summer Nationals in Nebraska, Omaha. TVA~TVM swimmer Luane R swam a blazing time and the new National Record 17:22.39 in 1500 LC meters freestyle. Her 800 free split (9:11.87) was a 4 seconds faster time, than the current National record! Congratulation!
Five of our swimmers have been selected by Pacific Swimming to compete in the All-star meets at the end of the summer. Maria Carlson and Natalie Tang will be representing both Pacific and Tri Valley Aquatics at the North American Challenge Cup in Canada, and Stephanie Doi, Thomas Gjerde, and Claire Suen will be scoring points in Grand Junction, Colorado at the Western Zones Championships. Congratulations to all of our swimmers who have already kicked their summer swimming into high gear – and good luck to everyone as the season...
As many of you already know, last weekend our Gold and Senior groups participated in the Lake Del Valle open water races hosted by Tri Valley Masters. But what you may not know is that our swimmers represented Tri Valley Aquatics with 11 medals in 3 events! On Saturday, Maria Carlson, Natalie Tang, Julian Wagner, and (Coach) Sydney Wagner started the weekend off right with the longest open water swim that any of our age groupers have ever participated in: the 5K. It was an amazing achievement, both physically and...
Excellent job Tri Valley Aquatics swimmers this past Saturday at the 10/Under Championships in Sunnyvale, all that hard work is paying off! Claire Suen, Andrew Wang, Arjun Nimmakayala , and Sydney Lu strongly represented the team with their performances, as they continue to learn how to handle themselves on deck and in the water as athletes. Claire placed second in both the 100 and 50 freestyle and third in her 200 free events for ten year olds. Sydney placed second among the seven year olds in her 25 breaststroke. The...
Congratulations to this year’s Far Westerns Championship team: Maria Carlson, Stephanie Doi, Thomas Gjerde, Jason Lau, Tyler Lu, Claire Suen, and Natalie Tang! Stephanie swam finals for the 100 free and 100 fly, taking 8th and 7th, respectively – and she broke the minute barrier for the first time in the 100 fly! Maria Carlson made finals in the 100 free, taking 10th place with one of her best times of the year. Best times came from Thomas Gjerde, Tyler Lu, and Claire Suen. Congratulations to all of our Far...
