TRAINING GROUPS

The Peddie Aquatic Association offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. Our goal is to provide age-appropriate training that challenges each athlete and helps them develop to the best of their abilities.

JUNIOR PROGRAM

Falcons (Ages 6–9):
The Falcons are the entry-level training group of the Peddie Aquatics Swim Team, designed for swimmers aged 6 to 9 who have a basic understanding of all four competitive strokes. Practices focus on stroke mechanics, drills, and fundamental technique to build a strong foundation for future training. The goal of this group is to develop solid stroke technique and introduce swimmers to the structure and excitement of competitive swimming in a fun and supportive environment. Falcons lay the groundwork necessary to advance as swimmers grow and improve.

Age Group 1 (Typically Ages 8–10):
Age Group 1 builds on the foundation set by the Falcons, providing more structured training for swimmers typically aged 8 to 11 who have completed the Developmental Program or an equivalent. This group focuses on refining stroke technique, learning basic intervals and sets, and developing essential racing skills. Practices also emphasize building confidence, teamwork, and a positive attitude toward training. Swimmers are encouraged to maintain consistent attendance and participate in meets, while committing to year-round swimming and personal growth.

Age Group 2 (Typically Ages 10–13 / Middle School):
Age Group 2 challenges swimmers to strive for excellence as they develop in age and skill. This group focuses on advancing technique, building strength and endurance, and fostering a disciplined work ethic. Swimmers are expected to consistently attend practices, compete in all meets, and follow an annual training plan, with vacations planned around training cycles. Emphasizing high personal goals, steady effort, and a growth mindset, training includes advanced stroke work, race strategy, aerobic development, and more challenging dryland exercises. Swimmers are encouraged to push themselves while supporting teammates, preparing for high-level competitions such as State Championships, Zones, and Top 16 events. Age Group 2 cultivates a culture of dedication and excellence, helping swimmers reach their full potential and prepare for the next level of competition.

SENIOR PROGRAM

Senior (High School)
This training group is designed for high school-aged swimmers who are dedicated to ongoing improvement in both technique and conditioning. It aims to prepare athletes for a range of competitions, from local meets to Sectionals. The program emphasizes technical skill development, endurance building, and the establishment of consistent effort and practice habits. Swimmers in this group typically set goals such as qualifying for State Championships, Zones, and Sectionals.

Senior Performance
Peddie’s highest-level training group is tailored for swimmers aiming to achieve success at the Sectional, National, and even International levels. Swimmers in this group are expected to show full commitment to their training, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and maintain a positive presence within the team. Consistent attendance at both practices and meets is essential. Entry into this elite group is by invitation from the Senior Program Director. The primary goals for these athletes include qualifying for Sectionals, Futures, Nationals, and continue their career at a 4-year institution.
