The Peddie Aquatic Association (PAA), a registered United States Swimming club, continues to be a powerhouse in competitive swimming, consistently ranking among the top teams at Sectionals, Junior Nationals, the U.S. Open, and U.S. Nationals. Building on a rich tradition that dates back to 1910 with the Peddie School’s first swim team, PAA was officially formed in the 1980s to support athletes competing at local, regional, and national levels.

In recent years, PAA has expanded its commitment to developing elite swimmers through innovative training methods, enhanced facilities, and a focus on holistic athlete development. Our coaching staff blends experience and passion, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and personal growth. This approach has helped produce standout swimmers who excel not only in the pool but also academically and in leadership roles.

PAA continues its proud legacy of producing athletes who compete on the world stage. Alumni include Olympic gold medalists Nelson Diebel ’90 and BJ Bedford ’90, as well as Olympians Royce Sharp ’91, Peter Wright ’91, Andrew Rutherfurd ’90, Jennifer Smatt ’92, Ji-Young Lee ’09, and Roy-Allan Burch ’04. Our swimmers also represent countries across the globe, reflecting PAA’s diverse and inclusive community.

Each year, Peddie swimmers attract attention from top collegiate programs nationwide. Graduates have gone on to compete for prestigious institutions such as Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Auburn, Westpoint, The US Naval Academy,  and many others, continuing the tradition of excellence both in the pool and in the classroom.

As we look ahead, PAA remains dedicated to nurturing the next generation of champions by providing age-appropriate training, embracing innovation, and fostering a supportive environment where every swimmer can reach their fullest potential.
