Congratulations to Mitch Thronson on his second appearance at the MSHSL Boys State Swim and Dive Meet! Mitch competed in the 500 Freestyle and set a best time at the meet! He moved up 3 spots in the rankings and is now the 2nd fastest 500 swimmer in Coon Rapids history- 4th overall for the team. The Coon Rapids Boys' 2024 Sections Team took 4th Place at the 7AA Section Championships this weekend! We entered the competition with the smallest team and managed to beat out 4 other schools. Mitch Thronson came in 2nd place in the 500 Freestyle, qualifying for the State Meet, held on March 1st at the UMN Aquatic Center. Congratulations Mitch! Head over to Northdale Middle School Pool to support the Boys' Team at Sections! Prelims start at 6pm tonight. Diving is on Friday 2/23/24 at 6pm and Swimming Finals are on Satuday 2/24/24 at 2pm. Our boys have put in so much work this season- come out and cheer them on!

Varsity Taper is here and Sections is just around the corner! Boys on the sections team need to make sure they are following the steps to a successful taper: getting good rest, healthy nutritrion, adequate hyration, staying focused, keeping their attitude in the right direction! Our JV Season has come to an end and what a successful they had! Each JV member of the boys' team dropped time in at least one event and we had some fantastic finishes at the Championship Meet this past weekend. The Boys Team had the Section 7AA True Team Championship Meet yesterday. We had a number of top 8 finishes at the meet this weekend. We also had many swimmers set season bests yesterday. The Coon Rapids and Totino-Grace Boys Swim and Dive season starts in just a few days, with our first practice on 11/27 at 5:30! The boys are ready to improve their swimming and diving and nurture a team culture built of values of inclusivity, hard work, commitment, and respect. Junior Rebekah Witzke finishes 5th overall at the JV Conference meet! This is Rebekah's first year diving, which is an impressive start to her diving career. She originally joined the team as a swimmer, but after trying diving at practice she instantly took to the sport. We look forward to seeing her successes in the coming year!
