About the Board of Directors

Ashburn Farm Barracudas Swim Team is managed by a Board of Directors composed of parent volunteers elected by the general membership. The Board of Directors is the governing body created to provide legislative, financial, and administrative guidance and support to the coaching staff for the daily operation of Ashburn Farm Barracudas Swim Team. The Board of Directors interfaces with the Ashburn Farm Homeowners Association and the Colonial Swim League to operate a swim program during the summer. 

Members of the Board of Directors include four Officers; President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Special Committees play an integral role in the planning and coordination of the swim season, and include Team Administrator, Meet Data Entry Committee Chair, Volunteer Committee Chair, Officials Committee Chair, Team Representative (Colonial Swim League), Social Events Committee Chair, Concessions Committee Chair, Spirit Wear Committee Chair, and Sponsorship Committee Chair. Elected board members serve a two year term. Elections are held at the annual meeting in January of each year. Officers

President: The chief function of the President is to be the overall administrator of the Ashburn Farm Barracudas Swim Team and be responsible for its operation.

 

Vice President: The chief function of the Vice President is to oversee and the coaching staff and act as liaison between coaches and the BOD of the Ashburn Farm Barracudas Swim Team.

 

Treasurer: The chief function of the Treasurer is keeping the accounts of the Club, collecting its revenues, and paying its bills as approved by the Board of Directors.

 

Secretary: The chief function of the Secretary is to record and publish minutes of the swim team board, generate correspondence, and schedule board meetings.


 

Board Committees

Team Administrator: The chief function of the Team Administrator is to establish registration of our swimmers, maintain team rules and conduct website administration. Works with volunteer coordinators to ensure all initial volunteer requirements are met in order to finalize registration.

 

Meet Data Entry Chair: The chief function of the Meet Data Entry Chair is to set up swim meets in the meet management software, manage swimmer entries, process swimmers' times at meets, and post meet results. 

 

Volunteer Coordinator Committee Chair: The chief function of the Volunteer Coordinator Committee Chair is to coordinate volunteers to effectively run swim meets. Plans, schedules, and manages service hours requirements and work assignments and assures that there are sufficient parent resources available to support team activities.

 

Officials Committee Chair: The chief function of the Officials Committee Chair is to establish and maintain our ability to run consistent, high-quality and technically-correct competitions for the Ashburn Farm Barracudas Swim Team.

 

Team Representative (Colonial Swim League Rep) Committee Chair: The chief function of the Team Representative Committee Chair is to be responsible for representing the Ashburn Farm Barracudas swim team to the Colonial Swim League, act as a liaison between the league and the swim team by relating information in both directions, represent the team at swim meets, coordinate awards i.e ribbons, medals.

 

Social Events Committee Chair: The chief function of the Social Events Committee Chair is to schedule events and activities to ensure a fun environment for the swimmers.

 

Concessions Committee Chair: The chief function of the Concessions Committee Chair is to run the concessions and ensure the Barracudas swim team, visiting teams, and parents are fed, sugared up, and happy to be with us in Ashburn Farm to swim!  

 

Spirit Wear Committee Chair: The chief function of the Spirit Wear Committee Chair is to design, order, sell, and distribute all swim suits and spirit wear items the swim team needs for the season. 

 

Sponsorship Committee Chair: The chief function of the Sponsorship Committee Chair is to be responsible for developing and managing fundraising options in order to help keep membership affordable for families.
