Meets cannot be run without parent volunteers. All parents are expected to help in some way. The success of the Chase Club Sharks Swim Team and the Colonial Swim League is greatly dependent on parent participation. Everyone has a busy schedule, but we all can and must find the time to volunteer.
The Chase Club Sharks Swim Team relies on many volunteers, throughout the summer and at each meet and team event, to provide the best possible experience for our swimmers. We are fortunate to have many families who generously give their time, effort and talent to our team. However, it has become increasingly obvious that some families are not fulfilling the volunteer obligations we have set for membership on the team.
It takes 40-60 volunteers to run a swim meet and changing your commitment after you sign up is extremely difficult to manage. If you do have an emergency that requires that you change your commitment after signing up, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator immediately and make arrangements to find another acceptable position.
If our team ends up needing you to volunteer at the last minute, even if you aren't signed up, please be prepared to say "yes." Sometimes we have volunteers who are no shows (overslept, forgot, illness, the dog ran off -- we've heard it all) and if that happens the morning of a meet, we have no choice but to pull from the ranks of those sitting in their chairs on the pool deck. We'll give you "on the job" training, especially if you are asked to assist with timing, Clerk of Course, or concessions. The meet can't start if we don't have our volunteers in place.
All families MUST sign up to volunteer!
Volunteer requirements:
- If you child is swimming in a meet, you need to sign-up for a meet related volunteer spot each time.
