HVST Junior Villains Program

Junior Villains is for our swimmers who are able to support themselves in the water and have some basic swimming knowledge.  Juniors should be close, but not yet able to swim across the pool. Lessons will focus on learning the proper techniques for freestyle and backstroke, coordinating arm movements with breathing, correct body positioning in the water, and an introduction to starts. Once swimmers can swim across the 25-meter pool consistently, they will be moved to the swim team to continue their journey as a Hayden Village Villain!

Swimmers 6 and older who can swim across the pool should join the swim team

Junior Villains will be evaluated during the 8&under practice time on Tues, May 27th and Wed, May 28th.  Swimmers will be asked to swim as far as they can across the pool, and coaches and team rep will then confirm that the swimmer belongs in Junior Villains.  Adjustments may be made during evaluations - some swimmers may be directed to the swim team, and some swimmers may be directed to Mini-Fins.

Junior Villains will practice at the same time as 8&unders for the entire summer.  They will have a dedicated lane just to themselves and they will have high-school aged coaches who work with them in the water.  The coach-to-swimmer ratio will be 4 or 5 to 1, so each swimmer will receive highly individualized instruction and close, personal attention.
