Dolfins February 2020 News

Hello Dolfin Families!

 

This year our season starts on April 13.  Register early to take advantage of our discount rates.  Rates increase on March 1 and again on April 1.  A payment plan is still available.  If you know anyone who is interested in joining Dolfins or Mini Dolfins, we have Try Outs at 10:00 am on March 14 at PH Aquatic Park.  I will be there to answer any questions.

 

We know that swimmers are busy with school and other activities in the spring.  We work on the same stroke every week, so even if swimmers make just 1 or 2 practices they will still benefit.

 

DOLFINS PRACTICE

Practice times will remain the same as last year.  The flyer (attached) has the practice schedule.

Practice Schedule (Season runs 4/13-7/27)

Spring Practice held at PH Aquatic Park: 147 Gregory Lane;

Summer practice at PH Education Center Pool: 1 Santa Barbara Road

*For 9-18 swimmers: all practices are at PH Education Center Pool.  Combined PM practice for all age groups available for those unable to make AM practice, 5:00-6:00 pm.  No practice May 25, July 2-5.  County meet qualifying swimmers practice through July 31.  All practices move to PH Education Center Pool on May 11.

SPRING SWIM CLINICS

The next session of Spring Swim Clinics starts on 2/25.  Both age groups (6-8 years and 9-13 years) will swim 5:00-5:45 pm, and the clinics are meeting at PH Aquatic Park.  Spring Swim Clinics are a great way to get a head start on the season!

PRE-SWIM TEAM

If you have a new swimmer just starting Dolfins I highly recommend taking the Pre-Swim Team Clinic.  It’s a great way to connect with the coaches, learn important swim team skills and build confidence before the first day of practice.  Please pass this information on to any friends who are interested in joining the team as well.  Pre-Swim Team Clinics are offered for swimmers 4-13 years old and held at PH Aquatic Park.

3/16-4/1, M/W

4 & 5 year olds   4:00-4:30pm

6-8 year olds      4:30-5:15pm

9-13 year olds    5:15-6:00pm

NEW this summer, we are offering private learn to swim lessons at the Ed Center Pool during the summer.  Six sessions of Tu/Th lessons will be held at 10:30 and 11:00 am during the summer, and are perfect for younger siblings who are not ready for the Mini-Dolfins program.  Check out the classes online here.  Registration for these classes opens at the Summer Camp Expo on 2/22, and they ARE eligible for the EXPO day discount.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING

The District is hiring lifeguards and swim instructors for the summer.  All applicants need to have American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification.  Classes are starting soon!  Check the website for classes and application information.
