Hello Dolfin Families!

I was so looking forward to the excitement and positive energy that comes when parents and swimmers reunite on the pool deck at the start of the season!

Unfortunately, at this time we don't have any guidelines on when and how we are able to open our facilities and programs. I have been attending Zoom meetings with other coaches in Contra Costa County as well as getting communications from USA swimming and we are all in the same holding pattern. Since we are a public agency, our General Manager, Michelle Lacy is in constant communication with the County, so we are getting up to date information before other teams. Our goal is to get our facilities and programs back up and running as soon as we are allowed to. We are planning for different scenarios with restrictions on sizes of groups and other limitations so we are ready to go when we are allowed to. We are assuming that there will be restrictions on large groups gathering and since Battle has 2,000 people and a dual meet has 300 people, we will most likely not be having meets this season. Our hope at this point, is that we are at least be able to have practices starting in June. I know the swimmers want to be in the pool and see their friends and I also know how hard it is to keep active kids sheltering in place. As soon as we have more information I will let you know.

Please try to do some form of exercise everyday. Try marking off 25 yards on the sidewalk and run sprints. It will get your heart rate up just like swimming and remind you how long the pool is. Also try planks, lunges, squats, push-ups, pull-ups, jump rope and even the trampoline will help you stay in shape. There are a lot of great swim videos on the internet and they are replaying the last Olympic swimming events on TV. I saw a great video about swimming in a mirror. I will post that on the Dolfin's Facebook group. Please continue to post fun things to the group. It's a great way to stay connected.

I miss you all so much and can't wait until we are able to get our pod back together on the pool deck! Please feel free to email me with any questions and it's OK if the swimmers want to email me as well. I would love to hear from them and I will definitely email them back.

Stay Well!
