WELCOME TO THE DOLFINS 2022 SEASON!!!!
It's finally here! It's finally here!!! Pleasant Hill Dolfins 2022 swim season begins tomorrow!!!! We are all so very excited to be back on the pool deck and with our swim friends and family!!! This will be the first of MANY weekly emails (generally sent on Mondays) sent to our team, so please make sure you are checking your email and are familiar with our website. We will be hosting our annual Parent Meeting aka Back to Dolfins night on May 19th so don't stress if you feel overwhelmed with questions at this point! We have an amazing season planned with many awesome home meets, away meets, invitational meets AND social events planned. It's going to be AWESOME! We are hopeful that many of the returning families who became experts in their volunteer roles last season will agree to return to these roles this summer. If you are one of those families (desk, stroke and turn, starter/ref, snack shack) and know you enjoyed yourself so much last summer that you are psyched to repeat that job this summer, please reply to this email so we know we can count on you :) Again, we cannot wait to get practices going and get started with our 2022 season! Following is an email from Head Coach Talli Pitcher with further details on the start of spring practice!
Let's Go PHD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOTE FROM HEAD COACH TALLI
Hello Dolfin Familes!
I am excited to welcome new and returning swimmers and their families to the 2022 Dolfin swim season! Our team has grown this year, especially in the 9/10 and 11/12 age groups. Since these age groups are combined for Spring practices, it will be crowded. Our number one priority is safety! We will be spending the first week evaluating swimmers and placing them in groups. We may invite some swimmers to practice with a different group if it works with your schedule.
Parents are welcome to watch practice and it is also ok to drop your swimmers off once you know they are comfortable without you there. It is very important that parents stay back from the pool. Coaches are experts at fixing goggles and solving most problems. It is important for swimmers to learn to communicate directly with coaches. If we need your assistance we will find you. If you have other children at the pool during practice, please keep an eye on them for their safety. Be sure to pick up your swimmer right after practice because coaches need to be 100% focused on swimmers in the pool.
We understand that parents and swimmers are very busy with work, school and other sports and can't make it to every practice. Spring practices focus on stroke development with a lot of skills and drills. Since swimmers learn at different rates, we generally stay with the same skills each week so if they miss a practice, they won't miss out on those skills.
We will have a little extra chaos at the Aquatic Park pool while we complete a construction project on the Training Pool. Please stay away from the construction area.
Our practices run back to back. If you have an urgent question, I am happy to answer while I am transitioning swimmers or direct you to a board member who may be able to assist you. Otherwise the best way to reach me is by text or email. I will get back to you once I am done with practice. I am always happy to answer any questions you have.
