NOTE FROM HEAD COACH TALLI

Hello Dolfin Families!

It's been a wild first 2 weeks of practice with crazy weather, pool chemistry problems, sick coaches and being down a pool due to the construction project. The swimmers and coaches have done a great job adapting to the craziness and we have seen a lot of improvement in just 8 practices!

We start the season off with high expectations for behavior, respect and safety. It is very important that we teach swimmers how to work together as a group and how to be respectful to other swimmers in their lane. Swimmers come to us with a wide range of skills and we want them all to be successful, but it takes time to set them up for success. I realize as a parent that you are focused on your swimmer, (I was a swim parent too) and that's great but at this stage, it is really important to work on how they interact with their coaches and other swimmers. Once they understand how to work together as a group, every swimmer can make great progress. We appreciate your support in helping with these goals.

We have learned a lot of skills and drills for Freestyle and Backstroke. These two strokes have a lot of similarities like streamline body positions and body rotations. In preparation for Butterfly this week, we learned about the importance of the streamline under water dolphin kicks off the wall. We will spend this week working on Butterfly skills and drills as well as reviewing what we have worked on the past 2 weeks.

I love being able to have parents back on the pool deck this season so you can see everything we are working on. During practices, coaches and lifeguards are focused on the safety of swimmers in the pool. Parents must keep younger siblings safe by not allowing them to play in the construction zone, climb on trees, fences and tarp reels.

I am always happy to answer any questions you have so send me a text or email if you need anything.

Have Fun, Swim Fast
