NOTE FROM HEAD COACH TALLI

Hello Dolfin Families!

Week 6 is all about preparing for Time Trials. All practices will be at the Ed Center Pool. We will be working on starts, turns and practice races for all events. Swimmers need to be prepared to swim in any lane that they are assigned. If your swimmer is worried about anything, have them go to a coach and we will help them.
We will have coaches at the blocks with the younger swimmers. It can be overwhelming for first time swimmers and parents but remember it's supposed to be fun and returning families are happy to help out new families. The order of events for Time Trials starts with 50 Free for the 15-18 swimmers then IM, Free, Breast, Back & Fly starting with the younger swimmers and moving up through the age groups for each stroke. Make sure swimmers arrive for warm-ups.

It is very important to read the weekly emails to find out about important meet entry deadlines. For Dual Meets, swimmers generally are allowed to swim 3 events at Saturday meets and 2 events at Wed night meets. You may choose events in Team Unify but I have the option to switch their events if I need to balance out the races. For Invitational Meets, you must choose events for your swimmer. Each Invitational has their own rules on how many events you may enter. I finalize all entries and complete all relay entries. If you know your swimmer will be late or needs to leave early please put that information in the notes section so I have that information available when I complete entries.

On June 4, we have 2 meets at the same time. The 9&Under swimmers will be at the Pleasant Hill Aquatics 9&Under meet and the 10&Up swimmers will be at the Larkey Sharks 10&Up meet. If you have swimmers at both meets, you will need to plan ahead to make it work. We will be splitting our coaches between the 2 meets. I will be the lead coach at the 10&Up meet and Ciera will be in charge at the 9&Under meet. The team pays the entry fees for the Invitational meets but if you do not show up for the meet, you will need to reimburse the team for the entry fees. You must also sign up for a short work assignment at any Invitational meet you sign up for.

I will be handing out Jr Coach applications to the swimmers by the end of the week. We will be doing Jr Coach Training on Friday, June 3, 10:00-12:00 at the Aquatic Park Pool. Have your swimmer let me know if they are interested.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at our Parent meeting on Thursday night at the Senior Center.

Let me know if you have any questions.

NOTE FROM VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR KC DESILVA

Hello Dolfin families : )

We still have a few open season long jobs.....if you are interested in one of the last remaining positions (snack shack, starter/ref, desk, take down, stroke & turn) please email me ASAP.  Training will take place at Time Trials for all season long jobs.  If you won't be at Time Trials but are still interested in one of these jobs please email me so we can make training arrangements.

Here are some important volunteer dates this week:

5/19 at 9pm to 5/21 at midnight - Sign ups for work shifts at Time Trials will open this Thursday at 9pm after the parent meeting.  If you have a swimmer participating (and you do not have a season long job) you need to sign up for a short shift.  The sign ups will close on Saturday, 5/21 at midnight.

5/22 at 6pm Sign ups for all regular meet jobs will open on Sunday, 5/22 at 6pm after the conclusion of Time Trials.  Sign ups for each meet will close approximately three days before the meet.

5/22 at 6pm Sign ups for the 9 & under meet at PHA will also open after Time Trials.  This is an invitational so all families with a swimmer participating will need to work a short 1-2 hour shift at this meet.

5/24 at 6pm Sign ups for the 10 and over meet at Larkey will open.  This is an invitational so all families with a swimmer participating will need to work a short 1-2 hour shift at this meet.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to email me at [email protected].

Happy Monday : )
