NOTE FROM HEAD COACH TALLI

Hello Everyone-

Time Trials was a great kick off to our racing season! I was impressed with how much the swimmers have learned with just 6 weeks of practice. I also get excited about teaching them so much more. I plan and oversee all practices and we will going over everything that we have already learned again. It takes a lot of repetition and feedback to make changes. It's great to have all our coaches on board and ready to go.

The 9&Under and 10&Over meets on June 4 have closed. I am finalizing all entries and adding relays today. If you missed the registration deadline and want to enter your swimmer, you must text me TODAY. I have chosen events for anyone who didn't pick them, and I limited everyone to 3 events. Make sure you sign up for a work shift if your swimmer is swimming in either of these meets.

As a reminder for the future, please sign In or Out of the meets so I know you decided and didn't just forget. Our deadlines are put out in our weekly emails. If you miss a deadline text me immediately, I can sometimes still add them. Once my entries have been submitted, we can still deck add at home meets but that is stressful for the swimmers and more work for me and the desk. We are NOT able to add swimmers to away meets or Invitational meets.

Winning isn't everything! The problem with focusing on winning races is that you have no control over who you swim against and how fast they swim. Only one person can win but that doesn't mean everyone else is a loser. It's much better to focus on your own race and learn from it. To me, a winner is someone who shows up, does their best and treats their coaches, and teammates with respect. A winning attitude is everything! Popping their time tells them that they are improving and that is the goal. I love to see swimmers encouraging and celebrating each other. I love it when parents take notice and complementing other swimmers as well. Swimmers love to hear "good job" or "nice swim" after their races. I will be working with the swimmers on how to win gracefully as well. Encourage your swimmer to come see me after their races for feedback. They like to come together with their friends for a chat and that is great!

Setting goals and reaching them is great but remember to enjoy all the steps along the way because that is where the fun and memories are.

Have Fun, Swim Fast!
