NOTE FROM COACH TALLI

Hello Dolfin Families!

We had a great first week of practice working mostly on Freestyle. This week we will be adding Backstroke skills and drills. We will stick with the same skills for the whole week to make sure everyone gets to work on them even if they aren't at all of the practices.

We start the season off with high expectations for behavior, respect and safety. It is very important that we teach swimmers how to work together as a group and how to be respectful to their teammates and coaches. Swimmers come to us with a wide range of skills and needs and we want them all to feel welcome and be successful, but it takes time to get to know them and set them up for success. I realize as a parent that you are focused on your swimmer, (I was a swim parent too) and that's great but at this stage, it is really important to work on how they work together as a group. Once we set the expectation, we can move them forward and every swimmer can make great progress. We appreciate your support in helping with these goals. It is also important to let us know if there is anything special you would like us to know about your child.

During practices, coaches and lifeguards are focused on the safety of swimmers in the pool. Please monitor all of your children on the pool deck, in the locker rooms, and parking lots. The parking lots can be dangerous with a lot of different activities going on, so please drive with caution. It's fine to leave the facility while your swimmer is practicing but please pick them up when practice ends.

With so many new families, we decided to add a mandatory new family meeting on Thursday, May 11, 7pm @ the Teen Center. We will teach you all of the important information you need to know about our team including how to enter your swimmer in meets and work shift requirements.

In order to get your team suit in time for Time Trials please go to Elsmore for a suit fitting and place your order ASAP. We would like to see everyone in our team suit this season, but all other gear is optional.

We will be sending out a separate link for team sales to place an order for team sweats and other gear soon.

I am always happy to answer any questions you have. Just send me a text or email if you need anything.

Have Fun, Swim Fast

NOTE FROM OUR PARENT VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Hello Dolfin families : )

We are looking to fill a few of our season long job openings...read on to see which of these amazing teams you would like to be on:

**Do you like to get to meets early???  Think about joining our set up team and help put up the tents, chairs and timing equipment.  You would set up for all home meets plus Battle and the set up day at the start of the season. (2 positions open)

**Do you like breaking things down??  Think about joining our take down team and take down the tents, chairs and timing equipment at the end of meets. You would take down at all home meets plus Battle and the take down day at the end of the season. (2 positions available)

**Do you like to bring a smile to all the swimmers' faces??  Think about being on our ribbon team and with the help of 1-2 others put stickers on the back of ribbons and then file ribbons during the meet.  You would do this at some home meets and for Battle. (4 positions open)

**Do you like computers and/or are a detail-oriented person??  Think about joining our desk team and help with the timing system and/or the paperwork for each race.  You would do this at some home meets and at Battle (3 open positions).

**Do you love to have a front row view to watch the swimmers?  You can't get any closer than being on our Stroke & Turn team where you watch the swimmers' strokes for irregularities and write disqualification slips as needed.  This would be at some home meets, some away meets and at Battle. (3 positions open).

**Have you always wanted to be the next Harry Caray or Renel??  Think about lending your amazing voice to our announcer position.  You would announce at some home meets and at Battle. (2 positions open).

Whoa, you may be thinking, these jobs sound like waaay more work than just timing.   Not so.......all teams have been created so the work expectation is roughly equivalent to those families who do not have a season long job.

Now, I bet you are saying to yourself that YES these jobs sound amazing but I don't know how to do them : (   NO WORRIES!!  All jobs come with training and at Time Trials you will get some hands on practice.  Not going to be at Time Trials.....we can work out another training opportunity.

If you are interested in any of these positions, whether you want more details or are ready to add your name to the team, email me at [email protected] and let me know.

Thanks : )

KC
