COACH TALLI'S REPORT
Hello Dolfin Families!
I am so excited that summer is finally here! It's going to be so Fun! We are off to a great start with some really awesome swims at both meets this weekend! We had an awesome group of parents who moved and set up all of our canopies and equipment at the College Park pool today. It's amazing how quickly the work was done with teamwork.
Our summer practice schedule starts tomorrow at College Park High School (201 Viking Dr. Pleasant Hill)
Please Park in the student parking lot with the solar panels. The pool is at the back of campus behind the gym. Walk down the main hallway and you will find it. You are responsible for getting your swimmer to and from the pool. Once they leave the pool deck, we are not monitoring them. Please get your swimmer in the habit of using the restroom before practice. The bathrooms are a bit of a walk from the pool deck. Our policy is to send 2 kids together for 9&Up swimmers and parents needs to take 8&U swimmers. We always have board members on deck to help with younger swimmers if needed.
Summer Practice Schedule
8:00-9:30—13/14 & 15/18
9:30-10:30—11/12
10:30-11:30—9/10
11:45—12:30—7/8 & 6&Under
12:30-1:00—Mini Dolfins
5:00-5:45pm—Alternate combined 8&Under practice
5:00-6:00pm—Alternate combined 9&Up practice
Our main practices are in the morning with a lot of coaches at each practice. Come to that practice whenever possible. The combined pm practice is for those who can't make it to the am practice. There will be 2 lanes for each age group and only 1 coach per age group. No need to let us know what practice you will attend and it's ok to switch back & forth if needed.
Please plan a little extra time to walk from the parking lot to be at practice on time.
Meet Entries
Please help make my job easier by signing In/Out of meets by the deadlines. Entries take a long time to complete, and I have small windows of time to complete them by my deadline.
Relays
It is a huge honor to be chosen to be on a relay team! Relays swimmers change for every meet based on who is swimming at the meet. Most dual meets have a medley relay at the start of the meet and a free relay at the end. We often have 4 relays per age group, so we are dealing with gathering 16 swimmers for each race. Please check the program to see if your swimmer is in a relay. If you plan on arriving late or leaving early, please add a note with your entry. I understand that sometimes kids get sick and the sooner we know that the better chance we have of making adjustments. Last Wednesday almost every single relay had adjustments or had to be canceled. On deck last minute changes are my least favorite part of my job because it often causes other swimmers to be disappointed.
New Pool
The College Park Pool is very different than the Middle School pool. We will spend a lot of time this week working on dives, backstroke starts, turns and finishes. They will all be very different at this pool. It will take a little time to adjust.
Swimmer Recognition
Coaches will be choosing Swimmers of the Week for each age group and posting them on the fence. Swimmers are chosen for spectacular swims that week, being kind and respectful, working hard in practice or supporting their teammates at meets and practices. We love swimmers who have team spirit and support others.
Star Times are listed in the bluebook and on our website. Swimmers receive stars when they achieve the goal times. The stars are Red, White, Blue, County(pin), Gold. Most swimmers start the season with no star times. Their goal is to try to get a red star time. From there you move up to the next star. It is a fun way to set goals. Show your swimmers these times and help them set goals.
Pop Up Awards are given after am/pm practice on Thursdays to anyone who pops their time at a meet that week. They are usually otter pops but since we don't have a freezer at College Park, we will be giving out lollypops. We do this on the honor system. They are racing against other swimmers, but the real goal is to beat their best time. You will be amazed at how much they improve.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Have Fun, Swim Fast!

PARENT VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
Hello Dolfin families : )
Thank you so much to all the families who have volunteered so far this season. I am so grateful for all of the hard working volunteers we have had. I also truly appreciate those families that were willing to step in at the last minute last Wednesday as we needed to cover 3 timing shifts for the visiting team. : )
Just a reminder that the Battle work shift sign up will close at midnight on June 17th. Every family who does not have a season long job or has signed up for a Pre-Battle job will need to work three shifts at Battle of the Ages.
As always if you have any questions please email me at [email protected]
Thanks,
KC
