Dolfins January 2024 News
Hello Dolfin Families!
I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays with family and friends. We are busy preparing for the 2024 swim season, which is our 60th Anniversary. I hope everyone has seen the Winter/Spring Spotlight, which features three Dolfins swimmers (and a coach!) that you may recognize.
I am very happy to tell you that all our coaches will be returning this year! We have attached the 2024 Season Schedule (https://www.pleasanthillrec.com/DocumentCenter/View/11135/Dolfins-2024-schedule-as-of-1-11-24)
so you can plan ahead for your summer vacations. As you know, Battle of the Ages (June 29,30) is our team's biggest fundraiser, and every family is required to work multiple shifts to make it a success. Please keep that weekend free so your swimmers don't miss out on all the fun. Concord City Meet is our big end of the season meet where we show all our team spirit. This is a great meet for all levels of swimmers since they divide into A and B divisions based on times. It is best to schedule vacations around those two big meets if possible.
Registration is currently open for the February/March Spring Swim Team Clinic and Pre-Swim Team. Please text me if you have any questions about what class to sign up for. If you have friends wanting to join the team, have them start with the Spring Clinics. All NEW 10&Under swimmers must register for a free Swim Try Out in order to be placed properly in our programs.
Dolfins registration is also open. Many age groups filled last year, and we expect that to be the case this year as well. I recommend signing up as soon as possible to make sure returning swimmers get a spot on the team before the new swimmers start signing up. Make sure you sign up before the rates increase on March 1. A payment plan is available as well.
If you need assistance registering for any programs, please call the District Office at 925-682-0896 (M-F, 9am-5pm, closed Holidays).
We are looking for a few awesome parents to fill some of our important volunteer positions. All these positions would fill your parent's work shift obligations for the entire season.
1-Social Coordinator-Oversees planning and coordinates parent volunteers for our social events like age group parties, pasta feed, team breakfast, ice cream social and coach appreciation lunch. This can be 2 parents if you would like to volunteer with a friend.
2-Awards Coordinator-Order all ribbons, pins, stars and end of season trophies and awards. Keep track of inventory and coordinate with parent volunteers who distribute starts and pins.
3-Website Coordinator-Update website with new information prior to the season starting and update as needed throughout the season.
4-Team Operations-This position is currently the job that Amy is doing, so ideally, we would like someone to shadow her this season. It can be split into multiple jobs. This position works closely with Coach Talli. Team Coordinator communicates with other teams about meets, submits all meet entries electronically. Sets up meet files in the computer. Uploads meet results. Runs end of season time reports. Team Communications sends weekly emails to the team with important deadlines and information.
If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact me directly and I will be happy to discuss all the details with you. Don't be afraid to volunteer - we will give you all the training you need!
Let me know if you have any questions.
Have Fun, Swim Fast!
