WEEK 5 TEAM EMAIL

Amy Ross

Good Monday Morning Dolfins!

REMINDER : DOLFIN PARENT MEETING THIS THURSDAY, MAY 9TH AT 7P AT TEEN CENTER!!!

This week we have a report from Coach Talli, KC DeSilva and the Recreation and Parks District

NOTE FROM COACH TALLI

Hello Dolfin Families!

It's hard to believe we are already starting our 5 th week of practice! This will be our last week practicing at the Aquatic Park pool for the younger swimmers. All practices, including Mini Dolfins will start at the PH Education Center pool the week of May 13. This week Coach Maddy, our 6&U lead coach, returns from college. We are happy to have her back and I know she is excited to start coaching.

Unfortunately, I will most likely not be on the pool deck this week. I am having hernia surgery Monday morning. I will be back as soon as I am allowed. I have full confidence that my coaching staff can carry on without me. I am hoping to still be at the parent meeting on Thursday evening.

This week we will be working on IM's. We will continue working on all 4 strokes and learning open and flip turns. All 7 & older swimmers can swim the IM (Individual Medley=1 lap Fly, Back, Breast & Free)

Make sure you sign your swimmer In or Out of Time Trials in Team Unify and please leave a note on that page if you have time restrictions on when you can be there. It's best for me to see notes on the entry page rather than having to go look for texts or emails. If you need help with Team Unify, we can help you at the very important, Mandatory New Parent meeting on Thursday, May 9, 7pm @ the Teen Center.

We are looking for swimmers ages 12&Up who would like to be Jr. Coaches. This is a great volunteer opportunity to connect with the younger swimmers on the team and learn how to teach swimming. They will work alongside our coaching staff during the 8&U and Mini-Dolfin practices (10:45-12:00). They will get a certificate for volunteer hours at the end of the summer. Anyone interested should text Coach Talli at 925-216-7932.

Our season is packed with a lot of fun meets and parties, and I know many of you have vacations planned as well.  If it's possible, please try to plan around Battle of the Ages, our team's big fundraiser and the Concord City Meet which is a fun, end of season meet for swimmers of all abilities. We have our team spirit week leading up to it with fun activities each day. It's a lot of fun for the swimmers. Please make sure to watch for important meet entry deadlines in our weekly Monday team emails. Once the season starts things get a bit crazy so its easy to miss deadlines.

Let me know if you have any feedback, questions, or concerns. I'm always available by text or email.

Have Fun, Swim Fast,

NOTE FROM VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR KC DESILVA

Hello Dolfin families : )

We have just a few season long job openings left.....if you are interested in a spot on the take down team or the desk team please email me at [email protected] and let me know.

Time Trials is considered an invitational meet so if you have a swimmer participating you will need to sign up for a work shift (unless you have a season long job). Sign ups for Time Trials work shifts will open on Saturday, May 11th at noon.

Sign ups for all of the regular dual meet work shifts (you will need 5 of these shifts) will open at 5pm on 5/19 (after Time Trials).

If you have any questions please email me at [email protected]

Thanks,
KC

NOTE FROM RECREATION AND PARKS DISTRICT

Hello Dolfins,

As mentioned in our pre-season email, due to a new California law, fingerprint based background checks are now required for adult volunteers in youth organizations.
For the Pleasant Hill Dolfins Swim Team, all adult volunteers must be fingerprinted. The only exceptions to the fingerprint requirement are:
  • Volunteers aged 17 or under
  • Buy-Out Families
  • Families with only Mini-Dolfins
  • *Volunteers of another Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District program (i.e. Jr NBA Basketball league coaches) when your fingerprints remain on file with Pleasant Hill Recreation.
*If you believe you have been fingerprinted for a different Pleasant Hill Recreation program, please contact Korey Riley at [email protected] to confirm that your fingerprints are on file.

Background check results are confidential, and we are unable to share the results of the fingerprint background check between organizations.  If you have been fingerprinted for an outside youth organization, you must still be fingerprinted for the Dolfins unless you meet one of the exceptions above.

There is no cost for fingerprinting when you use a Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District approved Live Scan Location.

For 2024, we have scheduled three on-site fingerprinting dates:
  • Saturday, May 11, 10am-12pm at PH Aquatic Park
  • Thursday, May 16, 5-7pm at PH Ed Center Pool
  • Sunday, May 19, 8-10am at PH Ed Center Pool
Please use our Sign-up Genius to reserve an appointment for the on-site fingerprinting  dates.  Each adult being fingerprinted must have their own appointment.

If you are unable to attend on-site fingerprinting dates, fingerprinting is available at The UPS Store in Downtown Pleasant Hill (25A Crescent Drive, Pleasant Hill).  Please contact the store at (925) 356-0405 to confirm hours or if an appointment is needed.

To prepare for your fingerprinting appointment, please review the attached Volunteer Fingerprint Instructionscomplete the "Request for Live Scan Service" form ahead of time (the 3rd page in the attachment and also available for download in the Sign-up Genius), and bring a current government issued Photo ID.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Korey Riley
