Meet Rules and Regulations
- A swimmer's age for competition is determined by the birth date as of 6/1/2024.
- All swimmers must swim with their respective age group except in the 13 to 18 age group relays, where up to two 11 and 12 age swimmers may move up to compete.
- In order to participate in the Championship meet, a swimmer must swim in at least 2 dual swim meets.
- Alcoholic beverages, smoking, profanity or verbal abuse at League meets shall be strictly prohibited.
- Disqualification in a heat will result in the swimmer NOT receiving any points or awards for the heat they participate in.
Reasons for Disqualifications (DQ)
A swimmer will be disqualified for any one of the following:
- Use of ropes, bank, pool bottom, or flotation devices to propel a swimmer forward.
- False start (age 13 & up).
- Early take-off in relay events. Walking/running take-offs are prohibited.
- Swimmers in two or more legs of a race.
- Swimmers medley relay or individual medley strokes out of sequence.
- Swimming in any lane other than designated lane.
- Did not touch wall on turn
- Did not finish the race
- Pushed off bottom of pool
- Swimmer is pushed into the water
- Early take-off in relay events (any part of swimmer’s foot must remain in contact with the starting block until the preceding swimmer touches the wall)
Listed below are some general rules for stroke disqualifications during a race.
Backstroke

- Did not stay on back
- Wrong turn
Breaststroke

- More than 1 underwater pull
- Head not breaking the surface with each stroke
- Arms not simultaneous
- Hands pass hips
- Did not have a 2-handed finish touch
- Does a flutter kick instead of proper breaststroke kick
Butterfly

- Did not have 2-handed finish touch
- Arms not simultaneous
- Wrong kick – flutter kick
