As we settle in to the “off season,” and pack away our swim gear for the Winter months, the WHO Board and team are hard at work planning for the 2025 season and the longer-term strategy for the team. The goal is to build on our already supportive community and strong swimming talent to take our swim team to the next level by acquiring more up to date equipment, expanding, and refining our training capabilities as well as partnering with the broader community to support our team and their needs.
As part of this effort, the Walnut Heights Otters are kicking off our first “Fund a Need” campaign for a new scoreboard to better serve our team. We are asking you, our WHO community, to support this purchase through targeted donations for this new equipment.
We expect this upgrade to provide a significant increase in our timing capabilities and new opportunities for the team.
Benefits of the new scoreboard:
• Reduction of timing issues/malfunctions during the Home Meets.
• Ability to tracks individual swimmer split times and track swimmer progress with more ease.
• Faster and more accurate turnaround of individual results.
• Opportunities to include sponsorship campaigns from local businesses to generate revenue for the team.
• Provide a more interactive experience for families and swimmers during meet downtime.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to cover the purchase of and technical support for a digital scoreboard. Any contribution, no matter the size, are greatly appreciated. Donations can be made via the Ollie-Otter Venmo. @Ollie-Otter (please type Score Board Fundraiser in the comments section).
Bronze Level: donations up to $249.
Silver Level: donations between $250 - $499. Silver families will receive a WHO gift bag.
Gold Level: donations between $500 - $999. Gold families will receive a WHO gift bag. Family name will feature on screen on new scoreboard.
Platinum Level: donation of $1000 or greater. Platinum families will receive one free swim lesson from our coaches and WHO gift bag. Family name will feature prominently on screen on new scoreboard.
Diamond Level: $10,000 or greater. Scoreboard will be named after Diamond level family or WHO owned business.
