Pre-Swim Program

Pre-Swim is a swim lesson program taught by the swim team coaches for younger swimmers (usually 4 to 6 years old) who have some beginning swimming experience but are not ready for swim team.  If you are interested in Pre-Swim, please send an email to [email protected] telling us of your interest.

We realize you might be trying to determine if your swimmer is ready for swim team or not.  All members of swim team must be able to swim a full lap of the pool safely.  If you have a young swimmer that is “borderline”, you are invited to an assessment with the coaches - date TBD.  The coaches will observe your swimmer to determine if they can safely participate in swim team.  We encourage you to practice swimming with your young swimmers when the pool opens to prepare them for swim team and the assessment. We understand that many young swimmers regress in their swimming skills over the winter.  Our goal is safety for all of the swimmers.

Sample Practice Schedule (subject to change) - 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, either 10:30 to 11 AM or 11 to 11:30 AM.  We might add a third session on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:15 AM.

Pre-swimmers should be water safe. This program is for children who have limited swim skills, who may not swim with their face down, or may only be able to swim underwater. We will focus on basic swim skills, safety skills, rhythmic breathing, kicking, and arm strokes. Pre-swimmers will learn the skills necessary to become eligible for the Swim Team. At the end of the season, Pre-Swim Program participants receive a special award to celebrate their progress during the the Awards Banquet.
