BOARD NOMINATIONS AND ELECTION PROCESS PER BY-LAWS: ARTICLE V ELECTIONS AND TERM
Officers of the Club shall be elected annually from the general membership of the Club based on nominations from the Board’s Nominating Committee and, if appropriate, based on open nominations from the floor at the Club meeting at the end of the regular season. The term of office shall be no longer than one year for any individual in any specific office. Any or all officers may be re-elected for another term(s). Further, the President shall have served at least one year in a Club officer position or any board chairperson position immediately prior to his/her election as President. All candidates nominated for office must have at least one child participating in the Program during the year of their prospective service as an officer. The position of Past-President is excluded from the requirement of having a child participating in the Program.
The annual election of Club officers shall be based on the following procedures:
The President shall appoint a Nominating Committee, with Board approval, of no less than five members of the Board that will include both a Board Member and Head Swim Coach. The Nominating Committee will solicit interest from among the general membership of the Club and develop a slate of officer nominees.
The Nominating Committee shall present its slate of officer nominees to the general Club membership. Additional nominations may be made from the floor by any Club member in good standing. No person may be nominated without his/her prior consent. Voting shall be by ballot only when there is more than one nominee for an office.
A majority vote by Regular Members present shall constitute an election.
The term for all officers shall be for one year from date of election (to be held at the last Club general meeting). Vacancies of an officer’s position shall be filled by appointment of the remaining Board of Directors. The new appointee shall serve until the vacant term expires. Appointees shall be made from the Club’s Board. No individual may be elected to more than two consecutive terms (2 years) in any one office. An appointee filling a vacant term will not count as a full term and may be eligible to serve two terms.
Any and all of the officers may be removed for cause by majority vote of the Board of Directors.
