Sharks 2025 Coaching Staff
Hey, Seminole Sharks!
My name is Andrew and I am very excited to be coming back for my seventh year as y’alls Head Coach! I am originally from San Antonio, Texas, and began my swimming career at the age of 6 swimming for my summer league team. It was from there I quickly realized my passion for swimming and began swimming competitively at the age of 10. Throughout my time in San Antonio, I developed into a breaststroke, IM, and distance-free specialist. Afterward, I competed for my High School where I participated at the state level in both swimming and water polo. Following High School, I moved to Evansville, Indiana where I then competed in Division I athletics for The University of Evansville Purple Aces. I competed at the conference championship meet every year as well as being a captain my senior season.
My coaching career began in the fall of 2016 and I have been involved in the sport ever since. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of coaching athletes of all ages and speeds, including US Open and Junior National qualifiers. I recently was an assistant coach for the Middleton High School Girls swim team, was a volunteer for the boys team, and this fall I will be the starting as the Head Coach for the Middleton High School Girls swim team. I received my Masters in Special Education at UW-Madison in 2024 and spent this past year teaching in the Special Education department at Middleton High School. Whenever I am not on a pool deck, I am either spending time with my wife and son, working on my Olympic lifting, or relaxing outside.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone and having another great summer with y’all!
Hey Sharks! My name is Alex McClure and this will be my second summer coaching at Seminole! I have spent the last 11 summers swimming at Seminole and the last four working as a lifeguard and swim instructor here!
I have been on swim team since I was 8 years old, starting at OCSC and then swimming at VAST when I was in high school! I also swam for Edgewood High School for four years.
I just completed my second year at Loyola University Chicago, where I am studying Physics with a double-minor in Spanish and Mathematics. I am also a member of the Loyola Club Swim Team and the Loyola Pep Band.
When I’m not coaching, lifeguarding, or teaching swim lessons at Seminole, I’m going for a run or having a cup of coffee at Barriques in Fitchburg.
I swam for Verona High School all four years and for BAC growing up, along with VAST my senior year. When I'm not at Seminole (which is very rare), I'm coaching at VAST which I've been doing for the past 4 years. You can also find me being a very active member of Swim Club UW, the club swim team at UW-Madison! My favorite events to swim are the 500 free, 100 fly and 200 IM.
I graduated this past May from UW Madison where I studied Community and Nonprofit Leadership with certificates in Health Policy, Athletic Healthcare and Gender and Women's Studies! I can't wait for an awesome summer at the best place on Earth!
Hello swimmers, my name is Stephen Swanson Petro. This will be my first season coaching for Seminole, but I have been coaching swimming for over 15 years. I grew up in Arlington Heights, IL in the northwest suburbs of Chicago where I swam, played water polo, and started my coaching career. I am the third child of six kids (two older brothers, two younger sisters, and a younger brother), of which my younger siblings and I are all swimmers with one sister swimming for Ohio State, my other sister swimming for SIU Carbondale, and my younger brother swimming for LSU. Growing up I swam for my high school, local park district teams, and USA Swimming club teams experiencing all different types of competition styles. My main swimming events for competition were 100 and 200 Breaststroke, 200 IM, and 100 Free and graduated high school with water polo records for goals in a game, season, and career, and assists in a game. In 2016, I moved from Illinois to Missoula, Montana and have since lived in Illinois, Idaho, and now Wisconsin, which has always been a special place for my wife and me because we love camping and outdoor activities. I married my wife Erika in Kettle Moraine state park in 2021 and we currently live in Evansville, WI with our 8.5-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier Smokey.
Swim instructor was my very first job and I have been involved in aquatics and education ever since I first started. For the Arlington Heights Park District, I worked as a swim instructor, lifeguard, swim coach, pool manager, lesson coordinator, and lifeguard instructor helping to develop various swimming and water polo programs for the district while an employee. Since moving from Illinois the first time, I have worked as a high school swimming and diving head coach, an elementary school computer teacher, and I currently work as a full-time swim instructor and lifeguard at the Verona Aquatic Center where I help with teaching the swimming unit of the elementary school physical education classes. I look forward to meeting and working with everyone this summer and am excited for what the season brings.
