MARINWOOD WATERDEVILS SWIM TEAM & MARIN SWIM LEAGUE POLICIES
Below is a copy of our Team Policies. This document is a part of our registration process.
TEAM POLICIES
PURPOSE: It is the purpose of the Waterdevils Swim Team to promote athletic excellence and enhance each swimmer’s personal abilities in accordance with each individual’s potential in a safe, friendly environment. In order to achieve this goal and to make our practices, meets, and team events run smoothly, parents and swimmers agree to the following policies:
Pool Conduct, Health, & Safety Policy:
- Exhibit good sportsmanship at all times
- Avoid tardiness
- Follow the instructions of the coaches and lifeguards at all times
- Listen quietly and attentively when coaches are talking
- No running or jumping in the pool area
- Stay off lane lines, ropes, and lifeguard chairs
- Do not engage in disruptive, disrespectful, or discourteous behavior
- No verbal or physical abuse of others (in person or electronic)
- Accept discipline graciously
- Swimmers are required to wear goggles during practice
- Swimmers with hair below their chin are required to wear a swim cap during practice
- DISCIPLINE: In the event discipline is necessary, appropriate action will be taken by the coaches. If the problem continues, parents will be contacted to help resolve the issue. The team reserves the right to suspend a swimmer from practices or meets or to expel a swimmer from the team should it become necessary.
Parent’s Code of Conduct Policy:
- Exhibit good sportsmanship at all times
- Be punctual for practice and meets
- Respect the decisions of the coaches
- Set a positive example
- Notify the team promptly if your swimmer is unavailable for a meet
- Do your share by honoring your volunteer commitments or finding your own replacement
Volunteer Policy:
In order to run swim meets, we depend upon the help of our membership!
General Requirements
1. One season long job, plus 1 shift at Champs, per family, OR 5 jobs, plus one job at Champs per family. Tadpole and high school swimmer families must complete one job per season.
2. There is a $120 fee for missed jobs. If there is a shortage of positions available, you will not be charged for not fulfilling five jobs.
3. Jobs on the pool deck during meets generally run 3-4 hours. Set up, food pick up, and clean up shifts are also available.
4. If your family is unable to cover your assigned job, it is your responsibility to find coverage. Changes, cancellations, or expected absences should be reported to the Volunteer Coordinators ([email protected]).
5. Other non-season long job opportunities are available for Tadpole and high school swimmer families, and families who cannot commit to a season long job, include jobs at the awards ceremony, aquathon, team party, and timers at away meets.
7. On-deck AM jobs generally start at 7-7:30am, slightly later for timers. PM jobs usually start after backstroke, about 2.5 hours after the start of the meet.
8. Jobs are subject to change and other jobs may become available.
9. We will open official job registration on Team Unify in March 2025
10. Failure to sign up for all required shifts by 4/18/2025 will result in an automatic buy out. The family’s account will be charged $600 on that date if the family has not signed up for one season long job or 5 volunteer shifts by 4/18/2025.
Refund policy:
- 75% refund if a swimmer drops out before 3/29/2025. After 3/29/2025, refunds are not available.
- If a swimmer wishes to discontinue team participation, written notice must be forwarded to the team president.
