Shifts and Points
- 1 point = 1 shift
- You're required to fulfill six shifts.
Another Type of Shift
Swim meets will have two shifts—1st and 2nd.

SVSS Team Lead Coordinators
Lead Coordinators are responsible for communication with their volunteer team, training team as needed, monitoring shift fulfillment, and leading day of event responsibilities. Stroke and Turn Judge Coordinator (All Meets) Fulfills all 6 shifts
- Coordinates volunteer judges for 2 shifts at all meets. Also, acts as a stroke-and-turn judge for at least some shifts. Must ensure that volunteers are trained. Head judge--write DQ slips. Marin Swim League Officials Training (Date and Time TBD)
Swim Meet Break-Down Lead (Time Trials and Home Meets) Fulfills 5 shifts
- Home Meets only. Shift starts immediately at end of swim meet (approximately 12:30 pm start - 2:00 pm end). Coordinate with Swim Lead Set Up and guide day-of volunteers to help with storing swim team product and re-setting the pool deck. SVSTC Staff to help with the re-setting of the pool deck. You must be okay lifting up to 30 pounds. You will have 6 volunteers working with you on the day of the event.
- Print volunteer name tags and prep clipboards with heat sheets (for both home and away meets). Post the heat sheets for home meets.
All Stars Meet Coordinator (June 15, 2025) Fulfills 5 shifts
- Get 5 shifts taken care of in ONE swim meet! All Stars is an invitation-only swim meet being organized by Marinwood this year. The Sea Serpent Coordinator will be our point of contact for this swim meet and will recruit Scott Valley volunteers to work at the meet as needed
Team Photographer (Meets and Parties) Fulfills 6 shifts
- Do you like taking photos and posting them on Instagram? Then, fulfill all six shifts with this fun and creative job! We ask that you attend most meets and team parties and take photos of our swimmers and families. You will then send the photos to our webmaster for posting on the team website, and you will have control of the team's Instagram page and post for our families. Families love posts!
Memorial Day Organizer (May 26, 2025) Fulfills 3 shifts
- Responsible for organizing, purchasing, and decorating to walk in the Memorial Day Parade on the morning of May 27th, 8 am–noon.
- Organize and decorate car/float day that weekend.
- Walk/escort Sea Serpents in the Memorial Day Parade.
Awards Banquet Organizer (June 29, 2025) Fulfills 5 shifts
- Plan and organize our end-of-season banquet and awards ceremony. Will have the assistance of Chef Marc and three volunteers on the day of the event to help make the banquet a success. Fulfills five shifts with one event!

Roles for Swim Meet Volunteers Each of these fulfills 1 shift
8 & Under Line Up Assistant (Time Trials and All Dual Meets)
- Assists 8 & Under swimmers to blocks for freestyle through fly
Floater (Time Trials and All Dual Meets)
- Check in with Volunteer Lead Coordinators (Morgan Howson and Ashley Watts) for a surprise job of the day!
Meet Break Down (Time Trials and Home Meets)
- Helps Club staff break down, store swim gear and clean up after meet. Great job if you do not want to work during the actual swim meet.
Meet Set Up (Time Trials and Home Meets)
- Helps get the deck ready for a fun swim meet! Great job for those early morning risers (start time is typically 6:30 am), and you do not have to work during the actual swim meet.
Parking Attendant (Time Trials and Home Meets)
- Helps all meet attendees park in the right area. Keeps the club and neighborhood happy!
Ribbon Assistant (Away Meets)
- Helps Leads poolside, labels ribbons, and sorts by team/swimmer.
Runner (Time Trials and Home Meets)
- Gathers DQ slips from judges and Timer sheets from Timers and delivers to the Computer/Desk Team.
Results Poster (Time Trials and Home Meets)
- Works with the Computer/Desk team to gather swimmer's times to post.
Snack Bar Set Up (Time Trials and Home Meets)
- Helps Marc set up snack bar. Great job for those early morning risers (start time is typically 6:30 am), and you do not have to work during the actual swim meet.
Snack Bar Assistant (Time Trials and Home Meets)
- Helps Marc with food, serving, and clean up depending on the shift.
Snack Bar Cashier (Time Trials and Home Meets)
- Manages the cash flow for all snack bar purchases depending on the shift. Shift 1 will be an early start typically by 7:30 am.
Champs Snack Bar Assistant (June 28, 2025)
- Helps Champs Snack Bar Lead with food, serving, and clean up, depending on the shift.
Champs Snack Bar Cashier (June 28, 2025)
- Manages the cash flow for all snack bar purchases depending on the shift.
Stroke and Turn Judge (Time Trials and all Dual Meets): (If interested, please contact Morgan Howson and Ashley Watts)
- Judges legal strokes and turns(competitive swimming background helpful)
- Marin Swim League Officials Training—date and time TBD
Timer (Time Trials and all Dual Meets): All families are required to sign up for at least one shift unless they are already handling a position that makes them exempt.
- Works poolside uses a stopwatch to time events and write down times. One of the best swimmer viewing spots on deck!
Roles for Social Event Volunteers Each of these fulfills 1 shift unless noted
Serpent Season Kick-Off Party (Friday, April 18)
- Help with set-up, clean up, and organizing relays.
Memorial Day Parade (Monday, May 26)
- Helps with Memorial Day Parade preparations.
Awards Banquet (Sunday, June 29)
- Help with Awards banquet preparations, set up and clean up.
