REGISTRATION FOR 2023 SUMMER SEASON OPENS ON APRIL 18. You can register electronically by clicking here.

STC is excited to welcome back Head Coach Izzy Doud and Assistant Coach Meilan Uyeno this summer. For coach bios, go to the About section and select Coaches. To contact the coaches, please email them at [email protected].

After that is done (we will bill your STC account for the $140), you need to do three more things for Dive Team:

1. RISK OF INJURY FORM: Fill out this "Risk of Injury" form with your diver. Download this form and have both your diver and parent sign it and then email it to Roger Miron at the STC ([email protected]) or drop it off at the STC Fitness Desk.

2. AAU INSURANCE w/Extended AB Coverage: Pay and complete your AAU Registration on line here. Once this is complete, email your AAU card to Roger Miron at the STC ([email protected]) or drop off a copy at the STC Fitness Desk. All Divers must register with AAU Dive - one diver not registered voids the insurance for pool, coaches and team participants. AAU Club Code #W34AB4. Don't forget to buy Extended Coverage, not Regular Coverage.  Cost is $16 per year. If you already purchased AAU membership without the Extended Coverage, then call AAU (1-407-934-7200) and add it.

3. SAFESPORTS TRAINING: Per Midlakes Rules, all parents, guardians, coaches, divers, volunteers, and participants agree to take SafeSport training. Free, age-appropriate training is available online through www.athletesafety.org. Training must take place before the first practice of the season.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: You don't need much for diving. You need a swim suit (no cap or goggle) and a "shammy" towel is nice to have. Some kids like a pool deck coat as well. We will have STC logo swim suits, shammy towels (new this year!), pool deck coats and STC Swim & Dive Sweatshirts available for purchase at the STC Pro Shop.

SCORING: Divers are dived into groups just like swim team (8 and under, 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, 15 and over). Boys and girls compete separately. The cutoff date is June 15, just like swim team. Divers become "A" divers after they have won 2 dual meets or won the championship of their age group the prior year. All other divers (most of them) compete as "B" divers. Depending on their age and level, divers will do from 3-6 unique dives at each meet. Here are the Midlakes Requirements for number of dives by age group and level. Each dive has a degree of difficulty. Here is the DD (Degree of Difficulty Chart) that lists all the dives. 5 judges score the dive (2 from the away team and 3 from the home team) and the top and bottom scores are dropped. The other 3 scores are averaged and are times the degree of difficulty. The diver with the most amount of points wins the age group.
