Swimwear & Equipment
2025 BHSAT Swim Team Store is now closed. If you need anything, please head over to the Varsity Shop, our team vendor. Swim outlet is another great resource for gear.
BHSAT SURF Team Suit (ALL COMPETITIVE SWIMMERS)
The team's blue competitive suit with the BHSAT SURF logo is required at all meets. It is locally available at our designated team vendor. Use the store link above to place your order. Please note: we have a new color & logo for 2025!
*Boogieboard swimmers are not required to have a team suit.*
Practice Suits (ALL AGES)
It is recommended that competition bathing suits NOT be word at practice. This will help them to last longer. Any other one-piece (girls) and speedo/jammers (boys) will do for practices. Two piece swimwear is not recommend for practices.
Tech Suits (Optional)
A/B Finals swimmers may opt to wear their competition suits for warm up that day and change into a tech suit for competition. Find out more about tech suits by clicking here. Tech suits are not recommended for time trials, age-level, or Dual meets.
Please note: As per the NSSL bylaws (see page 10), technical suits, as defined by USA Swimming, may not be worn by any 12 & Under swimmer in competition at any NSSL meet.
Swim Caps (ALL AGES)
Swimmers with long hair are required to wear swim caps. SURF team caps will be made available to families early in the season. Any competitive swim caps can be used for practices. Material is typically latex or silicone, and the selection of the same is based on swimmer preference.
Fins (ALL AGES)
Fins will be used by all age groups (except Boogieboard Swimmers). Please obtain a very flexible pair of competive swimmer fins and put swimmer name on them. BHSAT has a limited supply of fins available. Not all flippers are created alike! The ones used in practice go completely around the swimmer’s heels – no straps or tightening mechanisms.
Kickboards (ALL AGES)
Kickboards are available at BHSAT; however, many swimmers opt to purchase their own.
Goggles (ALL AGES)
Swimming googles are required for all swimmers. Many styles/brands can be found at a variety of prices, sporting good stores often carry a wide selection. Avoid the cheap multi-pack styles. Speedo Vanquisher is a popular model. The coaching staff has recommended “Vanquisher” goggles by Speedo. They come in both child (typically ages 10/11 and below) and adult sizes (typically ages 11/12 and up). Goggle cases are also recommend to help keep them from getting lost, scratched, and/or otherwise damaged.
Pull Bouy (Ages 9 and Up)
The pull buoy easily holds the legs togehter, prventing the swimmer from using them and at the same time preventing them from sinking. Swimmers can fully concentrate on their arms while swimming. Pull buoy also offers some buoyancy, helping to keep the body in the ideal horizontal position.
Swim Snorkel (Ages 11 and Up)
A swim snorkel is a breathing device used by swimmers to breath while keeping their head underwater, allowing them to focus on their technique and stroke without the need to turn their head to breathe.
Swim Paddles (Ages 11 and Up)
Swim paddles are training aids that increase the surface area of a swimmer's hands, adding resistance and helping to build strength and improve swimming techniques.
Water Bottles (ALL AGES)
Staying hydrated is crucial for swimmers because swimming, even in water, leads to fluid loss through sweat, which can negatively impact performance, lead to fatigue, and increase the risk of cramps and heat-related illness. A reusable water bottle is recommended. Starting in 2025, BHSAT will feature water refill stations!
Spiritwear (Optional)
The team store will open for a brief time to place orders for spiritwear. Stay tuned for communication regarding order dates and apparel options. Additional Spirit Wear questions? Please reach out to Katie Gardner at [email protected].
Additional Suggested Items (Optional)
Swim-specific backpacks are used by many swimmers to transport dry clothes, towels, water bottles, sunscreen, slides, sharpies, etc.
Mesh bags are handy for swim gear and training tools.
