**Introducing our 2025 Meadow Coaches**
KYLE PETERSON
Head Coach
2025 marks Kyle Peterson's eleventh year at Meadow. He grew up swimming for Moraga Valley Pool and got his coaching start there. He is a former OMPA high point award-winner as well as a former OMPA record holder (15-18 100 Free). Kyle was a perennial County Meet finalist in multiple events throughout his career as well as an MVP pool and team record-holder. He was captain of the Miramonte High School team where he was an NCS finalist in both the 50 and 100 free. From Moraga Valley Pool, Kyle went on to be the head coach at Moraga Ranch for a few seasons before heading off to The University of Hawaii where he completed his degree. After several years of working in fine dining, pool and beach services, Kyle returned to Lamorinda in 2015 to rebuild Meadow and reconnect with old friends and family.
GAVIN PITT
Assistant Head Coach / Aquatic Programs Manager
Gavin Pitt returns to the 2025 season as our new Assistant Head Coach & Aquatic Programs Manager. Gavin is part of our Meadow swim legacy: Starting in 2004, he spent 15 seasons swimming for Meadow and 5 seasons as a junior coach working with 8 and unders primarily. In his final 4 years at Meadow, he became a former pool and team record holder, as well as a recipient of 2 Rich Keely Awards, 2 OMPA spirit Awards, and 2 Coaches Awards from 2015-2018. He returned to Meadow as part of our senior coaching in 2024 after graduating from the University of Texas, Austin.
In his new role, Gavin will continue to coach alongside Coach Kyle and other senior staff, primarily for the 9 & Ups, as well as run our Mini Dolphins Program. In addition, for Meadow parents out there looking to get in the pool themselves, he will run our Masters Swim Program offered during the Spring and Fall seasons. Together with Coach Kyle, he brings a new energy and data-driven approach to innovating our swim programs.
TODD KROHN
Assistant Head Coach
Todd is the Assistant Head Coach for the Walnut Creek Aquabears USA Swimming Club. In his 28 years coaching with the Aquabears, he has coached every group on the team and was part of three Far Western Team Championships, and two Sectional Team Championships, and was twice nominated as Pacific Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year. Todd also spent 21 seasons as the Associate Head Coach of the Diablo Valley College Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Team, stepping away following the 2022 season. During his time at DVC, he was part of seven CCCAA State Championships, 14 Men's Conference Championships, and 10 Women's Conference Championships. He was the 2014 CCCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year. Additionally, he coached the Women's Water Polo team from 2002 to 2010, which won the CCCAA NorCal Championships three times. Todd also coached Las Lomas ('95 to '00) and Northgate ('05 to '13) High Schools. He was named the North Coast Section Honor Coach in 2018. He also coached summer seasons for LMYA, Orinda Country Club, and Blackhawk Country Club.
The Krohns moved to Orinda in 2012 and joined Meadow in 2020. Todd and Laura have two Meadow swimmers, Elin (9) and Clay (8).
AMANDA FERGUSON
Assistant Head Coach
A life-long dolphin, Amanda has been coaching at Meadow since 2020, but her involvement with Meadow goes back to the mid-1980s when she joined swim team as an eight year old. She swam as a dolphin and later as a Miramonte Matador. After esteemed coach Donnie Heidary finally convinced her that she was “not a sprinter,” she mostly competed in the 100 yd backstroke and 200 yd freestyle throughout high school. Amanda has been a part of Meadow for almost 40 years, as a swimmer, lifeguard, summer nanny to swim families, swim mom to her sons Rex (15) and Miles (12), and coach. When she’s not on the pool deck, you can find her running, reading, or attending live music shows.
KATIE HAYES
(returning) Senior Coach
Katie Hayes learned to swim when she was 4 years old and started racing competitively at the age of 6. Growing up in Ohio, she swam for both her club team as well as her summer swim team. Upon moving to Wisconsin at the age of 12, she was state champion in both short course and long course consecutively for 3 years (100 & 200 Breastroke). She also was awarded multiple state champion in the 100 & 200 Butterfly as well as the 200 & 400 Individual Medley. In 2015, 2016, and 2017 Katie was awarded First Team All-State, All-Conference, and Team MVP for her high school swim team. Katie was 1 of 28 females invited by USA Swimming to attend the Central Zone Select Camp in 2015, and she was named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American in 2017.
