Please step up and take the lead on one of these concessions stands. You’ll have fun and really help the team. Contact Stephanie ([email protected]) or Joanne ([email protected]) if you can take this on.

Photographers:
Members of this committee take photographs throughout the season and provide photographs for use in the end-of-season slide show and for the webpage. Please contact Preston Sacks if you are a shutterbug and can help with this.

Pick up Bagels and Donuts: (Saturday Home meets) Stop by Ize’s Bagels and Dunkin Donuts on Rockville Pike before Saturday morning home meets start. Orders will be ready and paid for. Just pick up and deliver to our concessions stand. Questions? Contact our Concessions chair, Beth Ciangiulli.

Ribbon Writers:  Place stickers from the automation team on the appropriate ribbons and then file in our ribbon boxes. Two volunteers are needed at each Wednesday night meet, one for each half.  One or two volunteers are needed (for the entire tiime) for Saturday meets. This job is good for those who can’t be on their feet at the meet. It’s usually in the shade, too! The opposing team also supplies ribbon writers.  Swimmers 12 and older not swimming in that meet may earn SSL hours for this job.

Runner: (Home meets) This volunteer gathers cards from the Head Timer/Assistant Head Timer and delivers them to automation. No experience necessary. Swimmers 12 and older not swimming in that meet may earn SSL hours for this job.

Timers:  We need at least 9 timers each half to time our swimmers. That’s 3 for each of our 3 lanes in each half. Timers will use stopwatches to

start the time when the strobe light goes off (accompanied by the beep at the beginning of each race), then stop it when the swimmer first touches the wall. One of the timers in each lane writes down the times. (We need 18 timers each half for Time Trials since we don’t swim an opposing team for this inter-squad competition.) This is a great way to see your child swim and meet other swim parents. No experience necessary for B meets (prefer to have experienced timers for A meets). On-the-job training will be provided. Be prepared to get wet when swimmers flip turn! :)  Swimmers 13 and older not swimming in that meet may earn SSL hours for timing at B meets (sorry, no SSL timers at A meets).

Traffic Director: (Home meets) One parent stands outside our pool parking lot gates and directs a limited number of cars from the visiting team into our parking lot, and the rest to the Tilden Woods Park parking lot or to street parking. He/she also asks parents not to drop swimmers off at the gate so we don’t cause a traffic jam on Tilden Lane for our neighbors. This is just before the swim meet begins. Then you come on down to the spectating area and enjoy the meet!
