Competitive Swim Team
1. Any member of the Woodcrest Recreation Association in good standing, between the ages of 5 and 18 as of June 15, is invited to join the swim team. To be considered a member of the swim team, a swimmer should attend practice on a regular basis.
2. Swimmers must pay the swim team fee of $135 in order to be eligible to participate and it is used for the Swim Team awards, gifts, and parties. For insurance purposes, this fee must be paid prior to a swimmer entering the pool. Furthermore, swimmers cannot compete unless a "Waiver of Liability" form has been completed, signed and submitted by their parents. This waiver is part of the online registration.
3. Pep Rallies are held every Friday night before A-Meets. Team members have a chance to meet as a team, make posters, do cheers, and have fun! These are OPEN TO ALL TEAM MEMBERS, including training squad, and we try to have families provide food and dessert. Any member of the team is welcome to join in on the fun!
4. Parents are not permitted on pool deck during any practice sessions but can sit on the edge to watch their children. The coaches will be available after practice to answer questions and parents should not interfere as the coaches are just trying to do their jobs.
5. In the case of bad weather, please do not call the front desk to inquire whether or not there is practice. We will try to get a message to families via email, text or will post a sign on the doors to the swim club.
6. If a swimmer is going to miss practice, please try to let the coaches know.
7. Swim Meets (A-Meets) require as much swimmer participation as possible as these are competitions with a winning and losing team. If a swimmer is going to miss a swim meet, he or she must use notify the coaches. Please do so as soon as you know. We will utilize the automated sign-in and sign-out via TeamUnify Website to make the process automated. If you do not have access to the website, please notify the coach as soon as you can that your swimmer will not be able to attend.
8. If a swimmer wishes to participate in a B-Meet, he or she must let the coaches know by 7:00pm the Monday before the meet. B meets are for swimmers ages 12 and Under and in some cases for swimmers that are 14 and under.
9. There is no A-Team or B-Team. We are one cohesive squad. The labeling of swimmers as “A” or “B” team members has been a source of distress for swimmers in the past and is greatly discouraged. Coaches will let swimmers know if they will be asked to swim in our Saturday A meets. During A meets, there will be a lot of opportunity to enable most of the team members to participate including relays where we will have the ability to field up to 12 kids per age group/per gender for each relay event.
