My name is Nicolas Inserra and swimming has always been the most important sport in my life. I swam for the Springbrook Hogs since I was four years old. I learned how to coach under the leadership of both Ray and Mur ray. Eventually I took what they had taught me and became a head coach at Rudgear, where I was able to grow and build my own program. After a five-year hiatus, I am pleased to announce my return back to Springbrook. For those five years, I enjoyed coaching Acalanes High School swim, three as the head coach. Furthermore, I am currently helping coach Varsity and JV swim for Las Lomas high school. As a longtime coach, I have the utmost respect for Springbrook because of the consistent technical feedback from the coaching staff over so many decades. As a swimmer, I appreciate the positive and uplifting environment I remember from when I was a kid. I started as swimmer, then became lifeguard, and eventually learn-to-swim coach. Regardless of my position, this pool is my second home. One of my biggest strengths is connecting with kids of all ages and genders. My personal goal is to make an impact both in and out of the pool. Ultimately, my favorite part about the summer are the team cheers. I love getting loud and proud for the squad. I could not be more stoked to rejoin the Springbrook community. Honestly, I have always been fired up to call myself a HOG! Time to build new friendships, continue the OG traditions and spread positive vibes!
Sean started coaching in the Bay Area in 1989 landing his first coaching job the summer after senior year of high school with Moraga Tennis and Swim Club. He was the Aquatics Director at Moraga County Club and Claremont Country Club in Oakland and helped both build and open new pools. Sean also coached at the University of Nevada, Reno working with several world class athletes and Olympic Medalists. At Nevada, the team won 4 Big West Championships and placing 13th at NCAA’s. Sean believes in helping swimmers at every level achieve their full potential and loves the life skills and work ethic recreation swimming promotes in young athletes. Sean stepped away from coaching in 2017 to pursue a career in Tech Sales and is very excited to bring his passion for swimming and teaching efficient stroke technique to Springbrook.
My name is Sarah McCarthy and this is my second year coaching here at Springbrook pool. I grew up swimming and coaching at Springbrook as a member of the team for 14 years. I am currently attending Villanova University in Pennsylvania and I am happy to be returning back home for another summer coaching the Hogs!
Kate has grown up swimming, joining Springbrook when she was 6 years old. She swam all 4 years of high school and finished her swim career as an 18-year-old this past swimmer for Springbrook. In addition to coaching, Kate is also the co-head lifeguard. She is finishing her freshman year at CU Boulder, studying Strategic Communications and Sports Media. This will be Kate's second year coaching and she can't wait to be back on the pool deck for another great summer!
