Adam Westwood became the newest "RHINO" on Saturday at the meet in Rock Hill by swimming the 100 freestyle under one minute with a time of 58.93!!

Congratulations to our former swimmer Virginia Summer for placing 2nd in the 100 backstroke with a 1:00.89 and 2nd in the 200 back with a 2:08.18! She also was chosen to be on the A relay for the 200 free!

Our last day at YNationals was exceptional! Virginia went a best time of 32.14 in the preliminaries of the 50 meter backstroke and placed 18th for tonight's finals! Tonight she went her previous best time of 32.42 and finished 20th at YNationals for her last swim as a member of the Newberry Eels! We are very proud of our Newberry eels Nationals swimmers, Elisabeth Anne Orr, Thomas Orr and Virignia Summer! You made the Newberry County Family YMCA very proud!

Congratulations to our swimmers at the SC State meet and Finale for another good day of swimming. Swimmers Hannah and Ryan Barnett, Ben and Sam Hawkins, Drew & EJ McGinnis, Zachery Sarka and Mae Sparrow! Ben Hawkins who is competing in the State meet, had 3 best times in the 200 IM 3:01.95, 7th place in 50 free 34.17 and 3rd place in 100 breast with a 1:35.27. In the Finale meet, Hannah, Sam, Ryan, EJ and Zachery had best times in their events! Good swims EELS!

Day 2 of YNats (Wednesday) went well with Virginia swimming a 1:11.42 and Thomas a 1:01.04 in 100 meter butterfly Day 3 of YNats (Today) preliminaries went exceptionally well with 100 % best times. Elisabeth Anne swam a 1:01.83 and Thomas a 54.90 in the 100 meter freestyle. In the 200 backstroke Virginia swam a 2:28.36 and Elisabeth Anne swam a 2:34.14. Thomas swam the 50 meter butterfly with a best time of 26.85 and placed 24th and will be swimming in FINALS this evening! His last event at YNats...
