Getting to Know Tracey Williamson Swimming royalty, Dolly the rescue dog, and Super Cinnamon Swirls! Q-Tell us about your life and family here in Nashville? Nashville has been home since 1984. I moved here after graduating from the University of Florida to work in the R&D Department at Winners Corporation. I lived at the Caulkins’ residence for several months and almost immediately joined the NAC Masters swim team. At that time, practices were held in the original NAC pool that was located on Oceola Ave. I met my husband there,...

Swimmers by day. Professional Symphony Musicians by Night. How did you discover NAC Masters? John: Word of Mouth. Leslie: I discovered Masters when I was a grad student at Northwestern. I always loved swimming; I swam with my neighborhood team during the summers as a kid, but I hadn't done it in years. I started swimming again on my own at Northwestern and noticed what looked like an adult swim team. I didn't really understand what it was since I had never heard of Masters. I finally asked the coach...

NAC Masters Getting to Know Lance Logan How did you end up in Nashville? I am originally from Moline, IL - the birthplace of John Deere - and I went to school at Drake University in Des Moines, IA. Immediately after graduation, I moved to Austin, Texas because I hate the cold! I ended up in Nashville because I was chasing a girl (ha-ha). While that relationship didn't work out, I loved it here, so I bought a house and stayed. What’s your swimming history? How’d you get involved with...

NAC Masters Getting to Know Mary Ellen Koran How/When did you start swimming? I started swimming competitively when I was about seven even though I feared the water. We lived on a river community in Annapolis, Maryland. At our summer camp, there were weekly swim meets in the brown, murky Severn River. I was terrified to swim in it. I finally agreed to swim in a meet but wanted one of the counselors to tread water in front of me. So, he jumped in in front of me, the whistle...

Q-You’ve had a few impressive races lately. A-Admittedly, the first couple of meets after my 30-year hiatus were a bit surreal. Any mistakes I could make I definitely didn’t waste the opportunity to make them. The recent ones felt much more instinctual; it was easier not to think, and just let it rip (for better or worse). Q-How’d you end up in Nashville and at NAC? A-For the last five to 10 years, I‘ve thought often that once I retire, I would like to join a masters program and see...

How did you find NAC Masters? Give us the 411 on your amazing self. I grew up in Louisville, KY and swam for Lakeside. A lot of our sectional/regional meets were here in Nashville, so I've been aware of NAC for as long as I can remember. My husband and I moved to Nashville in March of 2020 after living in Washington DC for about nine years. We arrived right as Covid was heating up, so we didn't meet many new people for the first eight-ish months here! I swam...

How did you end up at NAC? I used to swim with a Master's group at my former club team in Richmond, VA (NOVA of Virginia Aquatics), and we moved to the Nashville area in 2020. I had always known NAC was a great team from a couple of teammates of mine at UVA (Parker Camp and Jack Murfee), so I looked up NAC master's not long after moving here. What is your swimming background? I am a third generation swimmer, with my grandfather on my dad's side having swum...
