NAC Masters Getting to Know Joey Kibble How did you end up at NAC? I used to swim with HSA in Huntsville AL when I was in middle school. We would compete against NAC when Chas Morton was competing and used to dominate the sport. We were in the same age group, and unfortunately for me, I wasn’t as fast! After middle school, I lost interest and stepped away from swimming. I remember having to explain to the very fiery coach Fran Norris that I just didn’t want to do...

6 NAC athletes have been selected as Scholastic All-Americans for the 2020-2021 season. That is the most of any team in Southeastern Swimming. Scholastic All-Americans must maintain at least 3.5 GPA as well as achieve a Winter Junior National time standard to be able to be recognized for this program. It is an award for those who balance high level swimming along with their classroom responsibilities. Evan Petty was among a few dozen swimmers nationally to earn the honor all 4 years of high school. Congratulations to these 6 swimmers:...

Some of the fastest teams from around the country came to Nashville for a weekend of elite swimming performances at the 25th Summer Sizzler. NAC swimmers got to see competition from other top Age Group swimming programs and Gold Medal clubs. It is no surprise that 3 of the teams at the meet have alumni representing Team USA in Tokyo this summer. The competition level and energy of the meet will help springboard our NAC swimmers into Southeasterns, Zones and Futures. Special Recognition: Blake Amlicke who broke 3 13-14 boys...

NAC Masters Getting to Know Steph Ballou You’re a Nashville native? What? Tell us more about your life, living and growing up in Nashville? I am a total unicorn, not many of us around these days. I am the only “local” on my street in Green Hills. I grew up in Gallatin, TN on a 350-acre cow farm and I graduated from Hendersonville High School. I couldn’t even see my neighbor’s house, heck I never even knew who they were, now it’s all built up. I have a younger sister...

High School NAC swimmers took to the short pool once more this spring to show their school spirit and participate in the TISCA State Championships the weekend of April 24th. The format and setting were new, but the results were the same, with NAC swimmers scoring a plethora of points for their teams. Congratulations to the individual state champions: Gretchen Walsh (50 and 100 Free) and Jack Flanagan (50 and 100 Free). All 4 swims were All-American Automatic times. Contributing to State Champion relays were Annie Lea Choate and Maggie...

NAC Masters: Getting to Know Eric Tesdahl What brought you to NAC? I had known about NAC for a while, but having never done any organized swimming, it seemed to me like it would have been only for very high level swimmers. I grew up in Minnesota surrounded by lakes but I never learned to properly swim until I was in college. As a kid I was a wrestler, a runner, and spent a lot of years playing ultimate frisbee. Once I did learn to swim, I was (before the...

Nashville Aquatic Club was in action twice in a 3 week period, hosting Lakeside and MTSC at the January Tri-Meet then turning around for an intrasquad meet with TNAQ joining the fun. NAC swimmers did a phenomenal job racing, cheering, and bringing great energy to both meets. NAC swimmers are now back to work as we get ready to wrap up our 2020-2021 short course season at the Southern SC Champs in March. Here are the swimmers who raced to a top 3 at the January Tri-Meet: Bella Bacchetta: 50...

NAC Masters: Wes Keegan How did you end up at NAC? In Nashville? We moved to Nashville in 2014 and I was looking to get back into swimming regularly. I was really big into mountain biking in CA but didn't like the trails here and the streets are a death trap. So, I thought swimming was going to be better to put back into my routine. I joined NAC, loved it, loved the coach, then work got in the way. We opened the doors at TailGate Brewery in West Nashville,...

By Debra Jones NASHVILLE, Tennessee — For Monique Ma, swimming at NAC Masters brings her swimming career full circle. But more on that later. As a kid, Ma spent her early years living between the Midwest and the South. She learned to swim in Mississippi and ended up going to college there years later. Ma says swimming didn’t come easy as a youngster; group lessons weren’t for her. “When I was about eight or nine, my parents said, ‘You've got to learn how to swim … you can't drown.’ And...
