About Wiregrass Aquatics Club

Wiregrass Aquatics Club (WAC), also known as the Wiregrass Waves, is a nonprofit, member-owned swim team dedicated to serving the youth of the Wiregrass area of Alabama. The club is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and is committed to developing strong swimmers through quality coaching, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Waves practices are held on Fort Rucker in pools operated by the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare & Recreation (DFMWR). While the team trains on a military installation, WAC is open to both military and civilian families. The club follows all rules and regulations mandated by DFMWR and the Fort Rucker installation to ensure a safe and supportive training environment.

WAC is a USA Swimming–sanctioned team, and all members are required to hold a current USA Swimming membership. Swimmers compete in:

  • Short Course Season (25-yard/meter pools) during the school year
  • Long Course Season (50-meter pools) during the summer

USA Swimming serves as the national governing body for the sport of swimming in the United States. The Wiregrass Waves compete under the Southeastern Swimming Local Swimming Committee (LSC), which includes teams from Tennessee, Alabama, and Northern Florida.
