Vacaville competes in Woodland

The Vacaville Swim Team attended the Woodland long course BB +/- May 20 – 22, 2012.  This was the second long course meet of the season for most of the swimmers.  As a whole the team performed very well and is setting the stage for an excellent long course season!

The 12 and under swimmers representing the Red, White, Blue, Gold and Junior 2 groups that came to the Woodland meet did very well. All across the board many swimmers dropped time in one or several events giving them new best times! Not only were there best times made but some swimmers received Junior Olympic cuts as well! All the swimmers raced fast which was awesome because all their hard work and effort in practice really paid off for them this meet. Coach Grace was very content with the outcome of the meet and how well everyone did.

The Senior II group had a handful of swimmers attend the second long course meet of the season.  Those swimmers that did attend the meet all posted new best times for their current age-group - which is very encouraging to see.   The weather was ideal for fast swimming.   Will Jones swam some new events and improved his times from the Folsom Meet  just a month prior.  Gabbi Arca shaved off more time on her 50 M Free getting closer to the BB time.  Rachel Lee swam on Sunday and earned a B time in her 100 free.  Ian Hustad swam both Saturday and Sunday and dropped lots of time from his long course times posted last summer.

The Senior 1 and Junior 1 groups had a very good meet, this was their second long course meet of the season and the experience showed in their races.  They have been doing a little extra stroke work on Butterfly and Breaststroke and they saw some very nice improvements for their efforts.  They also are getting much better at kicking fast the whole race.

The National group continues to improve on their long course racing.  Negative splitting their races (making the second half of the race faster than the first half) and keeping their splits in line with their goals was the focus of the meet.  Their efforts paid off with a large percentage of best times.

Thanks to all the parents who volunteered to officiate and time over the course of the weekend!
