Vaca Waves Safe Sport Program

At Vacaville Swim Club, the safety and well-being of every athlete is our highest priority. Together with USA Swimming, we are committed to creating a fun, healthy, and safe environment where all members can thrive. Abuse of any kind, including child sexual abuse, has no place in our sport — and we take that responsibility seriously.

To protect our athletes, USA Swimming has strengthened its Safe Sport policies, introducing the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAPP). These policies set clear boundaries on one-on-one interactions between adults and minor athletes, covering areas like social media, electronic communication, travel, locker rooms, and athletic training practices.

Since April 29, 2019, all USA Swimming member clubs, including Vacaville Swim Club, have been required to fully implement MAAPP, ensuring that every aspect of athlete safety is addressed.

But policies alone aren’t enough. Education and training are key. Starting June 23, 2019, all athlete members aged 18 and over must complete Athlete Protection Training to help recognize, prevent, and report abuse.

Below you’ll find important resources to help you understand and apply these protections. We invite every member and family to join us in this commitment — together, we can keep our athletes safe and ensure swimming remains a positive, supportive sport for everyone.
