Vacaville hosts Fall Swim Meet
The Vacaville Swim Team hosted their annual Fall Swim Meet October 19th – 21st. There were over 600+ swimmers and 21 teams who competed over the three days of competition. The Vacaville Swim Team had an impressive 140+ swimmers compete at the meet. The meet was tremendously successful with great weather and a lot of fast swimming.
Red, White & Blue Groups
The Red, White and Blue groups did fantastic at the meet this past weekend. For a lot of swimmers it was their first large swim meet and they did great! The meet had a lot of new information and learning to take in, but everyone did really well and had a lot of fun. I was very happy to see all work that we have been doing at practice paying off at the meet. The meet was a lot of fun but also showed us areas that we can still improve on, and we will continue to work on all of our strokes in the upcoming practices! I was very happy with how all the swimmers did and could not have had more fun! I can't wait till the next meet!
Gold & Junior 2 Groups
Both Gold and Junior 2 swimmers did great at our home meet. All the swimmers had received best times in either one or more events that they had participated in! I was very happy with all the best times. Some things we will still need to work on are streamlines off the walls and flip turns. That was our biggest struggles during the meet. But outside of that we did great as a team. Also many swimmers had made B and BB times which was awesome. We are getting closer and closer to having more swimmers get to Junior Olympics! Also, I want to thank all the parents for the support this weekend at our home meet. Everything ran smoothly because of your participation.
Junior I & Senior I Groups
SR 1 and JR 1 had a lot of fun at their home meet. There were lots of heat winners and fast swimming. They swam a lot of new events and found out that they enjoyed these new challenges and look forward to swimming them again. They have practiced improving their kick and their aerobic swimming and this has greatly improved the level of their performance. Go Giants. (Big Ants)
Senior II & Varsity Groups
Swimmers performed very well at our home meet. For many of my swimmers it was their first US swim meet ever. There can be pressure associated with a bigger swim meet and everyone responded well.
Swimmers from both the Senior II and Varsity group challenged themselves to some more challenging events. Overall, it was a great first meet and gave me a chance to focus on some areas that need more work such as turns and starts.
National Group
The National had a tremendous meet that built on their previous competition. The group continues to work on efficient, fast swimming while “controlling” their paces. The continued work on their turns, walls and underwater work is beginning to pay off in their races. The group will continue to work on transitioning their speed from their underwater work to their first few strokes of each lap.
A huge thank you goes out to all the parents that helped run such a successful meet. The coaching staff saw a lot of new faces out and about on the pool deck helping with the meet. It is through your continued volunteer efforts that the team will be able to “run on all cylinders” and continue to improve. The swimmers and the staff thank you for giving the swimmers every opportunity to swim at their best!
We look forward to seeing all the swimmers at the upcoming meets in November and December!
